Exactly. Recent performances have been decent, but it was his early performances as manager that caused the damage. Was ***** at Boro and now being ***** at England level. Allardyce was always the best choice out of the English managers at the start. Fair do's the football may not have been pretty but i'm sure it would have been more effective than with this *****.
Sean Wright Phillips is a good player who can do something. if you dont see that then you're probably one of the gimps of this world who would select Rory Fallon as our left back/2nd string keeper
He should never have played with wingers last night Especially after going one up. Needed to keep it tight and condensed and it wasn't a wide pitch. Then again, the should never have been appointed in the first place. He simply isn't good enough, never was, doesn't have the tactical nouse and doesn't command the respect of the players - why would he, he's never achieved anything of any merit at management or playing level. Jose Mourinho will do for me.
rubbish So Russia's players are good enough then? Name me one that would get into any top Premiership side apart from Arshavin and possibly Pogrebnyak? I dare say that half the side would struggle to get into Barnsley's team at the minute, and this is no exaggeration. No world class 'keeper, no world class midfielders, and one winger who's amazing on his day but is currently out injured (Bystrov). So don't try to tell me that man for man they're better than us, because they're not. I watch Russian league football every week, and the standard outside the top four teams is like watching a very average Championship match. But they do have something we don't - a world class coach who can make the team greater than the sum of its parts.
well your first point regarding..... their players not getting into top premiership sides is irrelevant, as most of our top premiership sides are full of foreigners and are not really a barometer for the national team, secondly, a succession of England managers have failed since 1966, they can't all have been rubbish, it's time for the players to take responsibility but that's hardly likely coz they're a bunch of overpaid overated tossers who would rather be out gettin pissed and chasin women! However we aren't out yet, Russia have to win in Isreal, and that's not certain by any means, we couldn't. How is Hiddink a world class coach, what exactly has he won on the international stage?
Lampard has had a lot of stick on this board Don't see the same being said of Gerrard with his poor shooting/passing over the last two matches. His miss yesterday cost us the game.
No point kicking someone whilst they are down. Trevor Francis reckoned we should have played Lampard yesterday.
Didnt say who to drop to accomodate him though.
If we dont qualify , I reckon Frank could have played his last games for England.

Hiddink managed to get South Korea to the world cup semis, qualify for the WC with Australia for the first time in 30 odd years, and looks like qualifying from this, not the easiest of groups with a Russia side packed with very average players who have spent years in football's international wilderness. As I said, he makes the team greater than the sum of its individual parts, the sign of a top-class coach.
A good coach makes a team 10% better, a bad one makes a team 50% worse Who said that then?
I'm not sure who but I think it was Cappello , Sacchi or Trapatoni.

Wasnt he in charge of the Dutch team in the 98 World Cup. If so he did well to get them knocked out in the Semis
