What are the expectations at Barnsley, how can you sack him, he was 2nd bottom this time last season, he's had no Money to spend.
he believed he would have turned it round and kept us up again

he should be made to watch videos of the bilge we have endured

. sit him in a locked room, and he can't come out until he's watched every minute of every game, ******

what a tosspot he is

he said can anybody tell him what the expectation is at barnsley and davey has done a great job keeping us up for two years despite having no money to spend and even though we've had a slow start he thinks he would have kept us up again.

As I said last night, that will be everyone else's perception. Most neutrals will think Davey has done a fantastic job keeping 'a club like Barnsley' up for three successive seasons.

I don't think its most neutrals

I think it's merely those on the TV that are showing just how little they know about the game they claim to be experts in. Kamara has shown that he has taken zero interest into barnsley in the last few years and also that he has a very short memory. How can somebody with so little interest possibly comment on the situation? And get paid for it as well

Barnsley have spent more seasons in the second tier of football than any other team...

The Championship is our level, would anyone care to inform Kamara/Claridge of that fact.

I think they would argue that football has moved on financially at this level and we haven't moved with it.

And for those who keep saying our fanbase is too small to sustain it

I'd like to point out that there were 4 championship matches with a lower attendance than us yesterday and only 5 with a higher. A mid table attendance then, not a relegation attendance and it isn't a one off, we were in exactly the same position after the last home match with almost exactly half of the leagues matches having a smaller attendance than us.

How have we not?

We had 6,000 more fans there than scunny yesterday. More than plymouth, more than doncaster and more than blackpool.

Even by that criteria, that only puts us 5th bottom.

No it doesn't

There were only 10 games yesterday. 5 teams had better than us, 4 had worse. ie it puts us mid table.

I did the same table for the preston or coventry game and guess what, we were midtable then as well.

Except for the addition of Peterboro, the same teams had lower attendances than us on the weekend of the Coventry game. Looking at the usual attendances of everyone else, we are likely to be at best the 6th worst supported team in the division.

Preston had exactly the same average home gate as us last

last season. Them playoffs, us ....hmmm. Burnley smaller population than us and they went up. If we were in top 6 playing well I believe that we would have an average gate in the region of 15-16k average

I'm just debating Supertyke's criteria for us being on the same financial footing as the majority of the division.

I was pointing out that big crowds do not always equal success

or Narwich wouldn't have gone down !

exactly

despite being the worst performing team in the league our attendance this season has been constantly better than between 4 and 6 teams that play on the same day. This is despite us having less away fans in oakwell than these teams did at their home grounds. If it was home fans only another 1 or 2 teams would have lower attendances than us (i checked).

Our attendance compared to league position is quite impressive and common sense says that if performances and league position improve so will our attendance so I think that to ALREADY be better than 5 or 6 others shows great potential.
