Calm thi sen... I never said it shouldn't have been stopped. I'm surprised it wasn't stopped earlier.
Did you watch it? He landed quite a number of punches and would have hammered it on points, but none were really knockout material.
Yes I did watch it And Barrera was stunned a couple of times, and would have tired as the fight went on. I think Kahn would have had a good chance of the knockout as the fight progressed, combinations take their toll, and if punches aren't coming back then the referee would stop the fight - result a TKO. Barrera is past his best, but it still takes a lot to knock him out. Anyone who knocks out Barrera deserves credit, if Kahn hadn't knocked him out it wouldn't have taken any shine of what was an excellent, mature performance.
RE: Yes I did watch it The clash of heads happened too early to tell. Having a gash like that on your head isn't exactly going to keep you in the best frame of mind to box. Especially when you've got blood dripping down your face for most of the fight. TBH, I thought it was a bit crap because the clash of heads ruined the fight, and can't really see why the commentators, whenever Khan is on, seem to make out that he's absolutely fantastic and the next legend in boxing.
Same here... I'll never understand why people pay to watch something that can be over in 10 seconds...
Exactly mate One of the pundits said "He's like a completely improved man. He has shown himself improved in every regard. All the flaws have gone" You would have thought that he took a big one on the chin and walked through it. From my memory the problem was that he's got a glass jaw - that didn't get tested tonight at all. Take the cut out of it and the fight would not have been stopped at that stage - so who know what would have happened.
RE: Calm thi sen... It should have been stopped when the doc had a look first time at the cut i reckon.... The fight ceased being just that when Barrare first got the cut, he knew it were bad and should have held his arm up and not given Khan the privilege of putting on a bit of a show....Shame it had end like that
And why didn't it get tested? Because for the first time in his 20 fight career Kahn moved in and out, refusing to let himself caught in a trade off, and used his jab as he should have always done. Everytime he let fly with three, four, five punch combos he put his gloves right back up to where they should be, and hid his chin tucked away. Very unfair to say he has a glass jaw when he's only being KO'd once, by punches that would have KO'd most fighters.
