we matched Norwich in the first half. Then a former Goalkeeper without any prior managerial experience obviously changes his tactics etc, for the 2nd half. Our Highly rated Bright young manager watches his side capitulate and take a resounding beating. Heads drop after the 1st goal (according to someone who had been to the match) Their is no leadership/ motivation coming from any direction for us. Oh dear looks like a miserable nerve-wracking run-in to the end of the season.
Well there aren't many succesful ex goalie managers about And if he is to buck the trend, you wouldn't expect it to happen soon. My main point is though, Davy was outwitted, indeed, out-everything today by a guy in his first game in charge, and probably didn't know he was going to be in charge until 2-3 days ago (lack of preparation) most embarrassing all round.
I agree with him to be honest Davey was completey outwitted by a rookie. Like it or not, there are very few football managers that haven't actually played the game...
Fair enough, just saw it mentioned earlier and it doesn't make sense, just because a mans a keeper doesn't mean he hasn't got a football brain. Wenger or Hodgson never even played at any sort of level and they do alright.
RE: I agree with him to be honest Think I'd prefer to put it down as a freak result in managers 'honeymoon period'. Happens all the time. Manager gets sack, legend of the club takes over and players play up to it, loan players go back with a point to prove and fans are right behind them. Couldn't have played them at a worse time. Up to Davey to ralley players and bring a few more in before next match.
