Wasn't this recently questioned as being outside the laws of the game here, as implied by the '3rd party influencing team selection' shenanigans that came out of the Tevez affair?

I know that most loan players are prohibited from playing against the club who 'own' them, but is this strictly legal?

    Should we care?

I think it was meant for players who had actually signed for another team, not on loan. Nardiello is actually owned by QPR, so they can do as they please. If it got that petty they could recall him the day before the game, then we could re-loan him after the game.

Depends on the terms of the loan

Not sure you can put a recall clause into a long term loan

You can definitely put conditions though eg not allowed to play in cup or against you

You cant do that when a player is sold
