http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/barnsley/8035265.stm This is what we get for constant moaning and ungratefulness of our fans. This is worrying in my opinion. A club's owner should not have to feel like this
I don't think he would just walk away or hand the club over to someone who didn't have the best interests at heart. End of day, he is doing a role that he doesn't want to do. He always stated he didn't want to be involved in the day to day running of stuff.
I don't think Barnsley fans are any more ungrateful than any other supporters. That said, I am disturbed to read what the job is doing to poor Cryne. If anyone deserves a stress-free existence after all he's done for us, it's him.
Does it B*ll*cks BFC if cryne decides to call in his debt and start charging astronomical rent for the ground does but what are the chances of that?
Does anyone really believe Cryne would walk away without..... making sure people and money were in place to carry the club forward? No he would'nt, the chances of anyone buying our club in the present economic climate are nil, I can understand his frustration watching the ***** Davey serves up, but, to make Barnsley an attractive proposition we need to be knocking on the door to the Premiership, alas, with the Welshster in charge theres more chance of seeing Elvis live at Ward Green Club.
Do you think that Cryne would be keen to stay on if .... someone else took over as chair and there were a couple of additions to the board? My top hope would be that: 1. A new chair/chief executive is appointed; 2. PC stays on; 3. A new manager is appointed after an imicable parting of the ways with SD - I think that we would need someone ideally with championship experience and that would look like Adie Boothroyd, or a good number two like Kevin Dillon at Reading. Market the club to a wider fan-base - brilliant start with the season tickets being cut. Re- brand for 2009-2010 with the ambition to reach the play-offs. PC happy; fans happy; players happy - ok! I wish life were so simple!!!
RE: Do you think that Cryne would be keen to stay on if .... Totally agree with the rebrand " Stronger together" has been a running joke throughout the season.
I don't see how additions to the board could possibly hurt. I'm sure he has looked/is looking, though.
I think that that would only work... if those additions ended up holding some power at the club i.e. were allowed to purchase x amount of shares in return for coming on board....
Yes it would work Board members do not neccesarily need to be financial share holders. They also do not need to be paid apart from out of pocket expenses. They need to have a proven 'business background' a fully committed supporter of BFC, and the ability to support a Chairman in the ambitions of the club. Come to think of it this would suit me as long as it was not neccesary to walk up a lot of stairs to the Boardroom.
It's not down to the fans imho. He never wanted to be actively involved in the first place, it was forced upon him. He has never been comfortable in the limelight. I don't think he wishes to desert the club completely, he just wants to be in the background where he prefers it. The club needs a proper chairman and board of directors. I'll get lynched for saying this but John Dennis is the ideal man and I bet he'd jump at it. Surely there are some businessman in the Barnsley area with the club's welfare at heart that would be willing to join the new board? We are a Championship club for christ's sake, we shouldn't be run by a one man band. (Donning mi tin hat as I post.....)
No they don't but.... If the board can be over ruled by the single shareholder if that single share holder does not like their decisions...
