Are we to assume thnat he was too casual re getting back to the club and, against the wishes of AR, GS got fed up of waiting and pulled the offer? That would kind of fit in with what we've heard from both sides. I understand that we don't want to have players messing us about but he was pretty useful last season. Played every game, weighed in with a good number of goals from the wing and rattled defences. Come on Gordy, he's learned his lesson.
Well if what we hear is correct Then Shuker was at Oakwell yesterday and was sent home from training. Surely he would have/should have been told then that it is his last chance to sign rather than just being told that he'd missed his chance?
RE: ok I will go a step at a time for you....what...have...you....heard.... there now,was that bett THIS - 'Stabbed in the back' ... Shuker's parting shot FURIOUS Chris Shuker has left Barnsley, declaring: "The chairman has stabbed me in the back." The winger said he had decided two weeks ago to take up an offer to stay at Oakwell. He was out of contract at the end of the season and was offered a new deal. He added that he had four weeks to make up his mind only to find the offer withdrawn in three weeks. The club deny that was the case. Said Shuker: "The manager wanted me back, the lads as well, it seems the chairman is running the club, picking the players." Shuker stressed there had not been wrangle over wages. He was ready to sign for the same pay as last year. "Money wasn't the issue, I turned down an extra £500 from another club because I wanted to stay. "I liked it at Barnsley, played all the games until right at the end of the season." Barnsley chairman Gordon Shepherd replied: "I like the young man but we could not go along with not knowing what was going to happen. "I was told by his agent that he took a holiday to think about his future. He didn't come back to us in the time scale. Shuker has been a target for four other clubs and was set to announce today where he will be playing next year. AND THIS - Barnsley chairman Gordon Shepherd hit back at Shuker, saying: 'I like the young man but we could not go along with not knowing what was going to happen. 'I was told by his agent that he took a holiday to think about his future. He didn't come back to us in the time scale.
He is overrated, and unloyal, the same thing happened last year and he promised to play for the extra money he would be earning, due to delaying on his contract! In my opinion he was poor. He has tried to hold out for money again but this time they've shown him the door. He isn't irreplaceable.
