So if you could re-make an old sitcom what would it be.

A couple from me, Bread, the next would be porridge.

Two classic, could they work ?

Classic sitcoms should be left alone. Bread was utter crap so you could do what you wanted with it but Porridge is classic TV and nobody could ever replace Barker, Beckinsale and Mackay.

You should never re-make a classic.

At the time, the first few series of Bread were actually ok. As with much comedy in the 70's and 80's though, half of the cast changed which tends to spoil a programme.

Exactly. Plenty of decent comedies/sitcoms on television now without having to remake anything. Could reel off 20 shows easily.

iIf you'd seen tosspot Paul Merton attempting to remake Hancock's Half Hour, you would know not to go anywhere near the classics.

Saying that, you could reprise them with the original cast. I thought the Likely Lads would be great in their retirement years and Frank Spencer father and his teenage daughter would have been potentially hilarious. :D

Some things are just of their time and it's very unwise to go back.

Another vote for the Likely Lads, even though the actors haven't spoken for over 30 years after a falling out.

Some comedies around today are very, very good, but many of them are American - Modern Family is fantastic and as a family we enjoy The Middle, but not too many modern British ones to the same standard.

As Barney Stinson would say challenge accepted......

    1) Two And A Half Men.
    2) How I Met Your Mother.
    3) The Millers.
    4) The Middle.
    5) Mike & Molly.
    6) Mom.
    6) Dads.
    7) Drifters.
    8) Two Broke Girls.
    9) Pramface.
    10) Uncle.
    11) Brooklyn Nine Nine (not just for Melissa Fumero)
    12) Raising Hope.
    13) The New Normal.
    14) Don't Trust The Bitch In Appartment 23.
    15) New Girl.
    16) The Mindy Project.
    17) Happy Endings (nearest any show has got to recreating Friends).
    18) Beaver Falls.
    19) Bluestone 42.
    20) Some Girls.

They aren't in any particular order but all are watchable to varying degrees.

The likely lads in retirement would be worth watching. Jessica would be in her 40's now but if the original cast could be tempted back I think a some mothers do 'ave 'em remake would be fantastic.

Yeah, the Frank Spencer idea would have need doing the late 80s. When she brings the boyfriend home would have been classic!!
