The article says it'll be east of the town centre which would put it somewhere in the Doncaster Road area.

Don't we already have a stadium?

Put these grants etc (£5million costs).towards the West stand modernisation.

Nice idea, and excellent that the ladies team seems to be very much heading in the right direction. However, I would have thought it would have made more sense to improve the facilities around the academy pitches, where there's already a simple stand in place, rather than build something else from scratch.

Great news. It's good that women's football is being taken seriously within the area and it's also good that it's away from the current setup enabling it to have it's own identity. Hopefully, it will also promote activity and sport for woman and girls within the region.

No WE aren't at least that is my understanding. I heard that it's Barnsley Women's FC owner that has put this idea forward. They no longer have any connection with BFC. I was told he decided to split away from the club in the summer hence the new name, badge etc. All they took was the adult team although I think they perhaps wanted to take the juniors which are part of reds in the community so I guess we might not have an adult ladies team for a season or two. When we do that will be under our clubs badge

Be interesting to see if it lasts on its own and if these plans can be realised.

I really do hope we can build a ladies team of our own, if for nothing else but to help get the Oakwell facilities used more than 23 games per season. If things could be set up so the ladies team's home fixtures were set when the mens were away, then after a few seasons building the ladies fan base up the stadium would be in use and generating revenue week in, week out throughout a season.

They have ladies teams at all the other levels so I would imagine it's just a question of rebuilding.

This is true, both ladies teams have moved away from connection with the club, all junior teams are still under the reds in the community. It's a shame this has happened.

Out of interest why have they split? Seems a backwards step to me and I can't imagine that the town can support two ladies sides.
