Somehow I think not on both counts. We could get better crowds if the people of the Boro would turn out and not worry about their personal budgets during the recession. We could also try and attract them by taking in big names and doing a Portsmouth. Or we could perhaps maybe try and grow our team, try some of the fruit of the acadamy, maybe try and get a few experienced players in maybe an ex premiership/international striker.Maybe a couple of promising younger lads who had been on the books of prem clubs. Maybe trial a few out of contract players see if they fit our plan...but hey wait , WE ARE DOING/DONE just that. I wonder If the newly relegated Doncaster, the failed promotion Blunts,or the perhaps going out of Business 'Pompey' would trade places. Darlington would I think maybe even Glasgow Rangers would. We have a great ground, we have a promising management team.We have somepromising youngsters coming on well too. We may get relegated we may get promoted...I just hope we do a bit better than last term . BUT we are in decent shape overall. Please guys take that on board and try and be greatful.

We'd get better crowds if we were near the top of the table. Nestling in fourth bottom or lower isn't going to get former fans out of their homes and back into Oakwell, neither is playing like post-January last season.

The club has to speculate to accumulate, even if it is a modest transfer spend of £500k-£1mn. If we're in with a shout of the play-offs then then there's nothing stopping the camaraderie and turnout of the late nineties. Don't believe the lack of attendance is because of the recession, it's because the circa 10k fans that have been put off returning in the last 10 years believe there's better entertainment available for the price of admission.

I just want to add to this thread that .

I have seen some bad times and some absolutely fantastic times at Oakwell since my first match in 1967, but I am becoming very pissed off at the club and some of the fans on here that believe we should just turn up and pay our money and enjoy be treated like idiots! If anyone tries to be proactive and suggest a way for the club to make some money or get more supporters in, then that poster is immediately shot down and derided! Why because the club have brainwashed some into believing that we should just be grateful and pay our cash, instead of wanting to believe we can make a difference we are told we cant and to shut up.
I expect the usual suspects to come on here again and pull this post to pieces , but do you know what ? I dont give a ****!!!

Yes we probably will go down, but it won't be the end of the world. It's just football. This will be the first time in many moons I won't have a season ticket. Doubt I'll go to more than a dozen gamess.
Absolutely no reason it should cost so much to get into a game
