So what should Davey change for next few matches?

Our manager said today he doesn't know why we've underperformed in recent league matches. Now that we've capitulated in the FA Cup too, can anyone suggest some changes that could help us actually stay up?

I'm not looking for "we need to pick ourselves up" or "we need to focus on the league", those are meaningless words that various prominent team members have paid lip service to in recent weeks. I could just as easily say "we need to erradicate war and poverty"... it doesn't actually make it happen.

    yep easy

odejayi in the reserves and try one of the other strikers. christensen needs to be given a chance

stop fecking playing leon on the wing

try learning more tactics from freekicks in the middle, punting it forward into the middle of the box isnt bringing much luck, there are wide areas that the ball is allowed to be put into

    long ball = ****

they're jsut off the top of my head to get the ball rolling

for me there's not enough movement up front and no understanding between midfield.

howard & campbell-ryce need bringing down a peg or two... they need to play more as a team rather than as individuals

His job, for a start !!

get rid of Van Homo, put Hassell back there,
bring Togwell back into the side.
tell JCR to stop fecking about and get the ball into the bozx.
Swallow all his pride and play Christensen.
Leave Odejayi in London, cos he is not wanted here.
Learn some tactics, cos the ones he has dreamed up dont work.
Shove his badges up his arse, cos they dont mean **** all!

Loads more I can put but I am tired and pissed off.

Play the two players who were cup-tied.

    Re: Davey praying for improvement

Interesting suggestion. What about sacrificing chickens/goats, or having Odonkeyi shoot towards Mecca, just to cover his bases with different faiths? :D

Not at all... changing managers yet again would probably be a disaster. Who would we attract? How would we afford the severance package plus money for the new man's squad rebuilding? We probably need some stability in that department.

That's not to say his apparent lack of adaptability so far when Plan 'A' fails isn't frustrating and worrying. All that seems to happen at the moment is a manager/player interview saying "we feel fully confident" (all evidence to the contrary), "we need to win" (obvious and yet ridiculous when the subsequent performances fall short).

Perhaps we should be realistic about what Davey can do given the time, resources available, tough run-in, deflation after such a poor display in the biggest game of their careers...

No creeping up from me . I dont think he is up to the job and have said so from the beginning.
I have seen nothing from him this season that makes me change my mind. (N) (N) (N)

That's the one mate. He's tried them all with Macken except Christensen.
Up to just his striker policy will take us down.

    1000000000% totally agree

all this "we must have stability with the manager".... what about a peek at the table I have to ask of those people. Now that we are out of the cup maybe they will see just how wide the cracks are that have been wallpapered over by the Liverpool/Chelsea results

    RE: league one maybe

We've been sinking for weeks, if anything the rot's spreading. But we should have enough pennies saved up from this Cup run to buy a few bruisers to get us near the top next season!

What amazes me is the ones saying we need stability were the ones screaming for Ritchie to be sacked

last season when it looked like we could go down.
This season, after signing 17-18 players, spending a wedge of cash, buying total misfits, the manager has us falling through the trapdoor and they think we should give him time. FFS
They want Davey to be given some more money and be able to build a new side again.
SERIOUSLY DELUDED and BEFUDDLED. /poo /poo

Never mind cracks, there are gaping holes. It's not just strikers, we play poor Bobby Hassell in midfield (he fulfils half that role well and the other half just doesn't happen), Leon on the wing, there's no movement, little understanding between players.

But what's the alternative to Davey? Big Sam? The reason we had to take a punt with Davey was there was no credible alternative. We're a small, cash-strapped club to everyone in the world except for Barnsley fans. I hate that just as much as I hate the fact we lived down to our billing today.
