    Me

A goal up and the relegation fodder opposition down to 10 men! If you can't make that into 3 points then you're in big trouble.

    Relegation fodder?

    http://www.soccerbase.com/league2.sd?teamid=612

Twenty-seven points above the relegation zone last season, and nineteen points above us - hardly relegation fodder. You make it sound like we had a victory nailed on.

By all means, express disappointment but, for Christ's sake, get real...

You can't say it's not worrying? Colchester are going to struggle this season no doubt, if we can't beat them with a goal start and a man advantage then I fear we will struggle even more.

If Davey can't get it through his skull that we need a quality "bully boy" centre half then we will be relegated.

    RE: Relegation fodder?

No, you're right, I can't say I'm not concerned - it sounded a disappointing performance and we ought to be beating teams when we're a goal up and they're a man down.

    However...

It doesn't mean we're "in big trouble" nor will we be relegated based solely on the fact that we might not bring in a "bully boy" to play at centre-half. It means we're two games into the league season, with a new squad of players who, although needing time to settle have, at times, shown some genuine quality. We’ve come back from a goal behind to gain a point against a team we would’ve settled for a point against anyway today – OK, maybe we should’ve come back with all three under the circumstances but we didn’t and it isn’t the end of the world.

Davey have earned the right to manage the team this season, he deserves the time to put his squad together and get them playing his sort of game. It’ll take more than two games but I don’t think we’ve seen anything resembling the best out the team so far…

    RE: Relegation fodder?

I'm just worried that he doesn't seem to see centre half as an absolute priority to get right. We've struggled along for the last few seasons there and I'm sick and tired of us being seen as a soft touch defensively. When will we get some money spent on the quality stopper who would, almost guarantee us not being relegated. I feel it really is that simple, if we sign someone of the quality of say Chris Lucketti then we won't go down.

    RE: a good point

    Exactly - won 15, drawn 4, lost 4, goals against 19 - about 0.83 goals a game...

It's all about perspective, it was disappointing that we didn't capitalise on the penalty / sending off, but a more than decent result all things considered...

And on that, I don't disagree - our defence has been quite frail for sometime now.

The positive point though is that Souza has had two good games at centre-half (admittedly, not at left-back) and we all know that Nyatanga is a quality player. There is some hope!

Again, mate - I'm not saying I'm not concerned or disappointed I just think we need to show a bit of patience...

Looked pretty good in the prem last season though didn't he? But I'm not saying Lucketti full stop, we've made Kozluk our top paid player but wouldn't we have been better making a good centre half our best paid player? Surely that was the priority?

Only in patches, spent a bit of time injured, has done over the last few seasons. Fullbacks were of a higher priority than a centre half. YOu could have the best centre halfs in the world ever but whileever they get past the full backs and cross you will conceede

One point out of six -and you're happy.

The worry I have about Nyatanga, Souza and Reid is that none are commanding in the air and strong enough to stop a big, bustling centre forward ala Kyle.
