I don't understand this mentality, theres every likelihood that they will be the same league as us come the summer one way or another and I'm not sure a lot of the players in the squad are "his". Winnall until very recently seemed pretty miffed by LJ playing him out of position and outright not playing him why would he have allegiance to him?
A lot will depend on which divisions we are in - If Bristol go down and we go up or just miss out I cant see anyone going
Again what loyalty do these players have to Johnson, especially Hammill. Not even signed by him and the others had to play for a turgid 3 months of losses with awful tactics. Not seen a logical reason they would want to go play for him somewhere else. Hammill and Winnall have played well despite Johnson not because of
mawson perhaps, but i doubt winnall hourihane or hammill will have any real loyalty. i think they would go where the best deal for them was. if anything, you wonder what sam winnall must be thinking. "you lovely person. you got me stay here and within a week you've ****** off. thanks for that boss"
I don't think players are loyal to managers unless they are in need of a contract and can't get one elsewhere (ref - Hill/Flitcroft era). They will go where they can get the best deal. It might be Barnsley, Bristol City or anywhere. If we happened to go up and Bristol got relegated, I doubt any of our better players would leave, if our contracts were right for them. We might lose the odd U21 player, but as they're all on contract, we should be able decent money. Desperately trying to put a positive spin on this!
How involved do you really think johnson was in winnall staying if at all.. he said himself on tv hes not really involved in that and I think winnall stayed cos he likes the club and fans doesn't seem too struck on manager
Off topic I know but I wonder what the odds would be on Lee Johnson playing 4-5-1 in his first game as Bristol City manager? That would be interesting to me as it would suggest he's itching to get back to it and someone else has been having a say or a word in his ear.
If he did go. Albeit its likely he will do id be betting on him not seeing august. Brizzles chairman is not as patient as ours has been. Nor are the fans who are non plussed over his potential employment. Three or four defeats on the spin and theyll be at him. No fear about that. So in answer to your question. Nobdi.
People were saying this about Oldham when he came here. The closest we got was Wilkinson who was on loan there. I can see him loaning players he had here such as Toney. Wouldn't surprise me if he practically broke the bank to get his best mate Pearson in.
I just hope that if he does try to sign any of our players, the board remembers how much money Bristol chairman likes to splash around for the sake of his club and dig their heels in to get top dollar.
Re: just you watch I reckon plenty of us would take that bet with you if you were serious. So summer is until 20th of September and you reckon by then he will sign on permanent contracts at least three of the personnel that have played for us at first team level at least once this season?
I still think he's itching to do it here. As for anybody going to Bristol with him, why would they? Winnall's been played out of position and dropped AND IMO would have been sold last summer had the fans not loved him so much. Hourihane, Scowen wernt his signings and I dont see any real allegiance to LJ and Hammill is only here because of his allegiance to the club, not LJ. Watkins is the only real candidate I could think. Being an LJ signing and showing he's a good team player who's got quality aswell, everyone wants a couple of those players. Mawson has only just started to settle at this level nevermind stepping up again yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
