I know people keep saying we should wait for the new gaffer putting pen to paper, but just out of curiosity and a bit of fun, what players (realistic targets) who you like to see come in before start of season?
Player wise, I think we're only a few minor tweaks short of a competitive League One squad. But, and sorry if this derails your original question, who do we hope for as our next manager because I'm clean out of ideas. Assuming Mick McCarthy's a no, would Ainsworth/Grayson etc sell tickets or attract the players we may need to get us out of this division?
Priority 1 should be someone in midfield who’s happy to get in a scrap, put some tackles in and has a bit of fight in him.
It's not really who the supporters want it's who the club wants, but if the apointment doe's not please the supporters "there could be trouble ahead."
I cant see him dropping a division to be honest. He is easily good enough to play championship football - I would expect him to move to another championship club either on loan again or as a permanent transfer as I cant see him getting near the Villa midfield. Would love him back though
Freddy Woodward in goal season loan or Luke Steele get shut of Davies whatever ive seen enuff in three seasons to know he's babbarrr
What about Walton - He played well in the last few games - I would be happy to give him a better go next year from what I've seen - though if Steele would come back Id drive to Bristol and get him
no he is not, he had a bad spell last year , as did most of the team but the promotion year & the first season in the championship he did very well , a lot of short memories
2 goalkeepers 2 defensive midfielders 2 wingers And depending on what the situation is with the under 23 strikers - maybe 1 or maybe 2 strikers. 8 players should do it.
Ben Godfrey from Norwich. Box to box midfielder that was on loan at Shrewsbury, really impressed me in the play offs. I’d like that Jon Nolan too from Shrewsbury but can see him joining Ipswich now Hurst is there.
I'd take one Scowen, and add Marc Roberts and Marley Watkins. That should be enough to keep us in the Championship.
Don't see it honestly... Far too inconsistent and not the hard-tackling DM I think we need- even on one of his 'occasional' good games. Just MHO.
What about his debut friendly the first two goals at Ipswich last season etc and a dozen more i could go on
Or you could point to the 14 clean sheets he’s kept or the fact he made more saves than anyone else in the division. He makes mistakes we all know that but generally they rarely cost us points. This season I can think of 2 occasions where he’s actually cost us points, QPR and Fulham at home. The rest where he’s made mistakes we’ve already been behind, not saying he isn’t error prone but to right him off after one season is very silly
I was responding to the statement that he was "ba ba " for three years , well the simple answer is , he was not
