So, who's up for it then?

Massive dental practice in town. NHS patients only.

Set loads of dentists on and pay them a fair salary. We'd get that much business we'd be coining it in without fleecing the public.

Everyone's a winner! Except them greedy b4stards of course.

Aren't you involved with private housing rentals and buying property?

    Now there's irony!

    Small(ish) problem..

A qualified dentist has to own 51% of the business. I was talking to a mate of mine who owns a dental practice

Whats the diff between NHS and Private?

I have been paying for my dental treatment "at source" since I left Uni.

I think that you pay a contribution towards treatment on the NHS whearas if you used private treatment you would pay the full whack

    You're on form today.

Rentals are currently just covering buy to let mortgages. Are you suggesting there should be no privately owned rental properties? No backpedaling now.

    Aha! Why?

I don't understand this. The government seem hell bent on stitching the public up on this one.

    Thanks.

Do you know what the diff is in price between a NHS check-up and a Private one?

    I wasn't suggesting anything.

Merely saying that many private landlords are also greedy b*stards buying up property.

There is a place for private rentals but not at the expense of council and housing association properties that have been sold off.

Some law from the 1920s apparently. There about 12 shell companys that still exists that pre-date this law so if you got one of these you could open as many practises as you like. I think Boots used one of these to open their dentists a few years back.

    p.s.

Maybe there wouldn't be a requirement for so much private rental accomodation if rampant house price inflation had not been fuelled by private landlords snapping up property to let.
I now refer you back to my previous comment that house price rises should be tied to inflation and houses seen as somewhere to live rather than an investment.

I've found it a problem round my way

I'm trying to buy somewhere, but any property that comes on within price is snapped up sharpish by greedy wealthy locals who then let the feckers out.

    That's not what you said.

You referred to ME not "many landlords."

And, like I said, current prices mean that rentals are only just covering buy to let mortgages, and that's interest only. All the landlord gets out of it is growth.

There is due to be a 30% housing deficit (and you know who's feet you can lay that at.) Where do you think that figure would be without private rentals?

You really need to think this through mate.

Your assumption that the hike in prices has been caused by private landlords snapping up properties is way wide of the mark. House prices were artificially low. Without the price hike newbuild would have ground to a halt and there would simply not be enough housing to go round at any price, then you WOULD see a price hike. You have to make it viable to private enterprise to provide housing.

Like I said below there will soon be a 30% housing deficit. This is despite the f4ct that property is going up all over the place. Where do you think we would be if you made it unprofitable to build?

    PRECISELY !

We're all bollocking dentists for leaving the NHS without knowing what the NHS pays them. If it's owt like Optics then I don't blame them.

    Well..........

....they weren't exactly queueing at the soup kitchens before the government allowed them to opt out were they?

They must have been attracted to the work when we paid for their education.
