Did you go to the Wednesday game?

    Surely it is obvious.

aye, it's gone a bit quiet on that front hasn't it?

These 'contract talks' are taking some time aren't they? And we haven't heard a dickie bird about Bobby Hassel being offered a new deal, just what is the game here? If nothing else our two best players would have a sale value right now if we had got them under contract in September, as it is they can walk away for nothing by negotiating a deal now, or at best we might get 100k a piece for them.

I'm taking the lack of news to be a sign both are off, because even the Barnsley board can't be stupid enough not to do all they can to get both to re-sign.

I hope u r wrong about those 2 cos they have been by far our best 2 players all season. hope they sign a new deal soon, but am fearing they may not. davey said nobody has made any offers for the starting 11, so that means if they don't go they will be out of contract in the summer, as are hayes and nardiello and will probably leave on a free anyway!

Thing is, it's probably too late now as all of the out-of-contract players may as well wait to see whether we stay up before signing a new contract. The time to tie them down was in the first month of the season when optimism was high and they were all patting Andy Ritchie on his big bald head.

None of the four you mentioned would be willing to renew their contracts if we were relegated IMO. Hayes and Nardiello think they're bigger than us (and they're wrong) whilst Hassel and Howard shouldn't have any difficulty at all finding another Championship club to take them on.

I agree with you on all points. if we manage 2 stay up this year, I still think hassell and howard might go to a bigger club. Not sure about nardiello, seen him alot in brum recently out round town, giving me the impression that he is abit homesick or unsettled living in barnsley. or it could just be cos he is a west midlands lad and all his family live in this area

    Good to hear,,,

Though I still won't hold my breath until I see it. Knowing our club he'll have been offered a mere 25% pay cut to stay.

Any news on Hassel then? Did anyone ask?

    But

He said he thought Williams best position was midfielder. He didn't say that he WAS the midfielder.

He will only play when we are seriously stuffed for suspensions and injuries. For me Davey's comments mean the exit door for robbie- he'll be one of those he'll be trying to farm out.

I had taken it to mean

they were going to given him training based on him being in midfield - don't know whether that means they've already decided he won't be part of the "proper" squad and that they're going to window-dress him as a midfielder in order to get shot though.

He's not got a bad left foot on him, but that's no excuse for the rest of his game.
