Not been on here since so not read owt - here's my thoughts: - West Ham did their home work. Pressed from the front, let our centre halves have the ball and cosed our midfield down so we had little outlet. We were neat and tidy in midfield but no creativity unless we got Higginbotham on the ball (which was too often with him facing our back 4). - Disappointed with how we set up. Thought it was quite obvious we were getting over run in midfield and would've liked us to go back to 451 and have Tonge on for Gray. - 2 of those first half goals were individual errors, f.cking bad uns at that. I know managers take responsibilty but things like that the players should take the blame for. Uphill as soon as we concede and we never had a chance. - I still think we'll be safe (but mi arse is twitching) and the job to rebuild in the Summer is massive. Those shouting Hill out need to be careful what they wish for because I reckon with the players we've got, we'd have been down by Xmas if another gaffer had spent the budget we have. Orders from the top dictate where we shop and where our ambition is. - I thought Higginbotham looked ok, though. And Foster is a great defender but doesn't really fit into Keef's philosophy. Again, they did their homework and let him have no outlet. And also noticed McNulty's starting to become a target for the boo boys. F.cking mental. - and I bet there's mentions of taking Davies off yesterdi, thought it was quite obvious he was being given a breather for Monday. Considering he's our only laiker who might, MIGHT actually score.
"Orders from the top dictate where we shop and where our ambition is." A point flying miles over the head of most. Agree about getting Tonge involved - I'd play Higginbottom off Davies with Tonge in midfield on Monday.
Re: "Orders from the top dictate where we shop and where our ambition is." O'Brien back involved, Perkins back too - fingers firmly crossed.
Re: "Orders from the top dictate where we shop and where our ambition is." It's difficult, especially after horror shows like last night but we have to take a bigger view over what's occured this season and how Hill is testing some of his permanent signings for next year - a few months experiencing the sharp end of the Championship should hopefully prepare them better than signing in July and beating Buxton 3-0 in pre season. Dawson worries me though. Unstable.
Re: "Orders from the top dictate where we shop and where our ambition is." Not all there, is he? I like him. Fowk say they love a trier and wants us to play the right way. Well we do both but the long and short of it is we're just not good enough at the minute and haven't been since January. But if you lump all the responsibility on Hill without taking other factors into account you're mental. Be interesting who he brings in to replace Steele and Davies, though. Heard Wombwell Main have got a cracking goalkeeper.
Re: "Orders from the top dictate where we shop and where our ambition is." Dawson worries me though. Unstable.[/QUOTE] I agree about dawson, he needs to calm down on the tackles. Yesterday he worked hard but had little support, in that there was no outlet for him. In terms of the shopping budget, it will be tight and it has to be. I do not believe there is some moneybags in the background waiting to buy the club as a trinket. In the history of the club it would be interesting to see how often players were brought in from the same division or higher than we were in at the time.
Re: "Orders from the top dictate where we shop and where our ambition is." That'd be an interesting stat. Relative success (or perceived success) of that player too.
Agree 100% Dyson mi old. You were wise to avoid this place last night, it was in meltdown. Players have to stop making these costly mistakes and i think Hill will be moving some on. The problem is at the top, not with Hill so as far as I am concerned it's Hill in, thankfully the majority still agree.
Re: "Orders from the top dictate where we shop and where our ambition is." Hell be a player next season. Just not quite upto championship speed yet.
What worries me is theres a lot of talk about rebuilding but if we keep on in the present vein who the **** is going to want to come (thats any good)
That's where the top need to show some faith in Hill. Let him build a team then refuse to sell his key players or invest in him when we look like we're starting to achieve something.
