We have had to Pay Paul Reid up, when if we had waited a few more days, he could have gone to Carlisle (Where he looks set to go) on a Free and we would not have to have paid him up.
We release a 75k Player, who has played around 200?mins for our club, surely we could have offered him to a club (EG Bury again) for something like 50k.
What a waste of Money!!!

How do you know we've paid his contract up? That's not what it says on the official site, it says his contract has been cancelled.
When they say released by mutual consent.. ..the player may have agreed to move on without being paid off, doesn't always mean he's actually being paid to leave.
Both had till 2009 didn't they? So surely, we will have paid them both up. Doubt we released them without giving them some Cash
We wouldn't have had to It can be of benefit to the player to have his contract cancelled as he is then free to negotiate with clubs on his own terms without his previous club getting in the way. He can speak to as many clubs as he likes and work out a signing on fee and a contract that is right for him. There's no way BFC will have just paid up his full contract and kicked him out the door. There's no benefits for us to have done so.
It says that his contract has been terminated by mutual consent. Does that mean he's been paid up or does it mean as of today he gets no more money from Oakwell?
nice to see two have gone, just need johnson and stan to leave. togwell could stay for me as a decent versitile back up player.
I'd be happy to let Togwell leave to be honest....... He wasn't heavily involved in SD's plans last season and with the new additions (Colace, El Haimour, Hume), young Butterfield joining up with the first team, Heslop returning from loan and De Silva soon to be fit again I reckon Togwell would have dropped even further down the pecking order. Managers often say they would like to have two players for evey position, below I have listed players availble in each position from our squad in assumed selection order: GOALKEEPERS Muller & Steele (2x) FULLBACKS RHS - Kozluk, Hassell***, Foster*, Van Homeot* (4x) LHS - Van Homeot*, El Haimour*, Hassell**, Souza*, Atkinson*, Potter (5x) CENTRE BACKS Foster*, Souza*, Hassell***, Atkinson* (4x) CENTRAL MIDFIELD Howard*, De Silva, Colace, Leon*, Hume**, Butterfield*, Hassell***, Heslop, Togwell*, Johnson (10x) WINGERS RHS - JCR*, Devaney*, Hume** LHS - El Haimour*, Butterfield*, JCR*, Devaney*, Hume**, Leon**, Howard* FORWARDS Macken, Hume**, Odejayi, Mostto, Coulson (when fit), Adam, Ferenczi * indicates number of other positions covered by player. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As you can see from the above Togwell is way down the pecking order. He has played well but isn't consistent, but he will always work hard for the team. Question is he willing to fight for his place? can we justify paying his wages, I would assume for his ages and experience he would be a mid level earner?
Hassell has played at LB for us granted he was about as good as he was in central midfield!!! hence he would not be first choice and that is why I have shown him to be 5th/6th in line for the role..... Same could be said for Hume, more recently he has played as a striker but he started life at Tranmere as an attacking midfielder/winger (similar to Leon/Howard for us). So again he wouldn't be first choice but I could see SD playing him in the middle ahead of the likes of Togger's.......
Looking at the squad we don't have....... much cover or competition for places at Centre half and up front..... CENTRE BACKS - Foster, Souza, Hassell & Atkinson Generally happy but I would suggest at least one more experienced head needed to add some competition for places. FORWARDS - Macken, Hume, Odejayi, Mostto, Ferenczi, Adam, Coulson Macken & Hume I assume are the likley starting pairing, both Championship standard and will work hard for the team and get goals. Mostto has the talent to suceed but struggled to settle and failed to make an impact last season. Will this year be any different I wonder? I felt alot of the problem was he was regularly paired with KO and as a partnership this simply did not work. Perhaps if paired with Macken or Hume he may do well!? I would also hope that he would find it easier to settle with the addition other south american players and spanish speaking players in the squad (all together Colace, De Silva, Leon & Souza). Odejayi is a raw talent. He made a steady improvement towards the end of the season but his overall contribution (ignoring his goal and the game vs chelsea) simply wasn't good enough. If he can up his game and play like he did in the FA Cup ties then he has chance of suceeding. Coulson is out for until after Christmas with injury. He was developing into an exciting prospect just hope he come back to and plays and improves at the same tempo! Jamil Adam, young prospect not sure how good he is of how much opportunty SD will give him this year? Stan, transfer listed and likley to be on his way. Will always work hard, but sadly doesn't score enough goals. I think this is a difficult one to call, we are at a similar position to what we were in last season i.e. Mostto & Odejayi are still very much unkowns, will they come good? If they do brilliant and no other players needed. However, if they continue as they left off last season we may struggle and I would suggest we need someone else of quality in e.g. Phillips, Riordan. To add both back up and competition for places with Hume & Macken.
