He will have seen him play and will understand the role of a striker. Barnsley have just got to let this guy develop and the FANS (us) have got to support him and put no pressure on him.

I will support whoever puts on a reds shirt. Perhaps davey has unnearthed a rough diamond. And thanks for reminding me who the fans are.

I think that barnsley have some good youngsters and these can be the face of barnsley football club in 5 years. Barnsley have got players from other clubs who have been released like Hilbert Adam and butterfield. These players will be trying even harder than normal to make it at bfc and will no what its like to fail. The one i don't know about is potter because since is west brom disaster hes not been anywhere near the first team apart from west ham away in the fa cup i think. Ive only seen potter a few times too in the reserves over the past 2 years and the only time i can remember him having a really good game was against Bradford at oakwell when he played in a very experienced team with the likes of Reid and colgon. This was also Jcr's first game and barnsley passed the ball around like arsenal and won 4-2.

I think RNL could cause barnsley some problems in a year or so. Do you send him out of loan when hes 17 (or later) so he can get 30 plus games under is belt in non league or lower league 2 or do they try and keep him at oakwell and try and nurture his talents slowly. Another thing with RNL is what will be his final position and do barnsley try and play him there or play him in a differnt postion like walcott/ rodwell.

I had to laugh when Akpo said

"he's totally different from me, he scores goals and he's a really good player"

I take it he's related to Akpo then? Is he also a relative of any of the other Sodjes playing league football?

    He's a good centre half

rate him very highly, ended season at Leeds on loan, think Reading have said he can leave, not sure if he's a relation but would be more than happy to see him playing for us.

    He's a good player

Knocking on a bit now though isn't he? We need a good young up and coming defender that we can keep for a few years. Someone to replace Rob Atkinson, like maybe Rob Atkinson. The best defender to have come through our academy in years

Edit: not sure how i managed to put hes a good striker first time

    According to soccerbase he's 30

played Premiership football not so long ago, good competition for both Foster and Moore, would prefer him to someone like Nyatanga. Experience counts for a lot at the back, Championship football is about being organised, concentration and defending set pieces well.

Agreed. Rob Atkinson should not have been allowed to go especially as he went for peanuts!

You are right when you say that experience counts at the back. That's another reason why Atkinson should not have been allowed to leave. He should have been given longer to develop and used on occasions gaining experience with each game.

That's another reason why the best Academy defenders need time to develop. There are very few 18 year old centre backs playing in any of the divisions.

When did he play Premiership football?

Not saying he wouldn't be a decent player but he doesn't have Premiership experience
