Anyone got then installed on their roof. had a few phone calls about these recently, so finally relented and arranged for someone to come speak to us today.
Me man and dad have for a couple of years now. Fitted free, they get free electricity when its producing and the company get the surplus. If none is being produced they have to pay for what they use from the grid. Their energy bills have reduced significantly. All I'd say though is they're retired so get the full benefit - ie do clothes washing, dishwasher etc in the day when the electricity is free. Way my dad puts it, its a win win. They paid nowt for the panels, get free electricity most of the time, and its good for the planet.
they can be a real headache when or if you sell your house lots of cases reported now where the buyer wants them off....the cost of removal is quite big, and if they are free..ie owned by the company then they have the right to say that they stay.Take a long look at the small print matey first, perhaps consult someone in the real estate business and ask them the pros and cons.
Re: they can be a real headache when or if you sell your house I don't have any evidence to back this up but I was told recently that there have been a few issues during house sales with the 'fitted free' panels. Something about ownership / roof legalities but don't quote me.
been reading up and think its a no no anyway. Not likely to stay where we are for the rest of our lives so that makes it awkward to start with. Got better thing to spend cash to buy them and the free option not really worth it. Why would i want to save £180 per year while the company pockets the 550 per year over 25 years.
