I have posted these before. I'll have a look through my old prints tonight. The first two are from the same match in 1978/9, but not the Halifax game. First is Alan Little and Ally Millar. Clarkie, Millar and (Tommy Graham?) Ray McHale, Derrick Parker, Glav and Macca 2nd division 1981/2 against Newcastle (won 1-0, anyone know the scorer?)
Are the first two photos from our home match with Hereford United on Easter Monday 1979? We won the game 2-1, with both our goals scored by Derek Bell. When we beat Newcastle United 1-0, Trevor Aylott got the only goal, scoring at the Spion Kop end, after Ronnie Glavin's shot came back off the post.
I forgot what a skinny guy Alan Little was. Right hard barsteward though. "Animal" as he was referred to by some around us at the match....
Alan Little was the hardest man I've seen play for us, along with Pat Howard. Unlike many of today's so-called hard men, these two could take it as well as dish it out without a word of complaint.
I've got some more prints at home, I'll have a look through them tonight and post any interesting ones.
Re: Agreed And to think Graham Pugh was waiting for you, should you try and get out of "Animal" Littles way.
I thought the original game against Bournemouth had been selected by YTV for the highlights to be shown on the Sunday afternoon. Ted McDougall had returned there in the Summer and they also had former Barnsley players Mick Butler & Kenny Brown in their line up. Unfortunately, the match was postponed. I was under the impression that the rearranged fixture was midweek under the lights. I'm probably wrong.
Re: Agreed good pics again Brush. i like the more recent one, which i think was from 1981-82 against Newcastle and i think some other fans might have pointed this out. look at big Ronnie, who would say he was fat/overweight in those days ? it didnt stop him scoring did it
