Sky says he will be unveiled tomorrow. We were interested last year, but he had some peculiar contract clause at Bournemouth, which gave Portsmouth half the fee. So he signed for Portsmouth and, presumably, got round Portsmouth getting half the fee! I would imagine that Leeds would be able to offer him a better deal, but they had better watch their finances again. They seem to be counting their chickens financially by signing in players before receiving income from sales. Watch them sign Paddy Kenny, Shaun Derry and Clint Hill in the close season. I would rate Pearce as the sort of player we need in the middle of our defence.

Others who Sky say are available:

Adam Clayton at Leeds. I would be in for him alright, but he would cost a fee, so that might put us out of it.
Martin Crainie and Sammy Clingan at Coventry. I have always rated Clingan and we might just be in with a shout, although maybe one of the promoted sides, like Wednesday/United would be able to offer him more. I am not sure that anyone else would go for him. I think that we can do better than Crainie for a commanding central defender. Let's wait and see who else is available. I wonder if Sam Hutchinson from Chelsea would still be an option. We were linked last year.

Keep 'em coming, lads! It is always good banter, the transfer talk.

600K and probably at least 10K a week so even if we were still interested in him it was never going to happen.

we arent going to sign any 'quality' players get used to that fact now im afraid. all of you who bought your tickets for next season with even a glimmer of hope that we may take a turn for the better, im sorry but its not going to happen. when your own club manager starts saying its all doom and gloom then what chance do we really have under this regime.
