We are safe in the 2nd tier again. We beat Leeds home and away. We have a league two striker on 11 goals, having sold a freebie who had 12. We have won more away games than usual. We have played more entertaining football this year, than we have in the previous 4 combined. We had an injury crisis of epic proportions for the first 8 weeks of the season. We then got robbed of 4 our best players in the space of 2 weeks. We have had reduced the wage bill massively. Players that went - Shackell, Lovre, Haynes etc, hardly pulling up trees are they?? We have a squad in transition, with 3 our key players - Perks, Bobby, Jimbo - unavailable for weeks. We have an outspoken manager, sumat everybody craved in May when dullard left. We have an exciting batch of academy players on the books. We have a squad full of low paid, lower league diamonds/turds, who have all shone at certain periods - except one. We have to imagine that given this years 'step-up' in class, that next year, they will have improved. We have to trust the manager to make HIS decisions, and back him, as he is only human, and will get things wrong at times - Danny Wilson signed Dave Regis, Laurens ten Heuvel and Ales Krizan.. We are making a PROFIT - unheard of at this level. We have - on the field - little to moan about IMO. Ok, we are slumping again. Yes its hard to accept, but WE ARE BARNSLEY! When did some of our 'fans' mistake us for a massive club? You knew the deal when you swore allegiance to the club - we are little ol Barnsley, not MASSIVE deedars, who are a DIVISION BELOW, or, European Giants, like our Forest friends, who are struggling to stay up. By all means, have a pop at the club and its poor marketing, ticket pricing, and total lack of communication, but jeez people, most of you moaners wrote us off in AUGUST... and where are we now? Get a grip.. . Keep up the hard work Hillcroft, and unlucky tonight. Up and at the Saints on setdi! YOU REDS
Re: There was **** all wrong with Ales Krizan I tried to give you some 'rep power', Whitey, but it seems i have given you it too many times. oo-er!
Re: There was **** all wrong with Ales Krizan It does not matter how many shlte players King Danny signed........... he took us up to the promised land so until keefy does the same he will remain a commoner and not become royalty.... and until this happens he cannot be mentioned in the same class as King Daniel of Tarn. hth
Basically you're saying that because we're Barnsley fans we should accept medicority and have no aspirations for our club. There was no "deal" when we "swore allegiance" and people who started supporting us before 2002 will have seen far better than we are experiencing at the moment. I don't think that many people demanded an outspoken manager, I also think the vast majority of the football has been ***** and I don't use beating a poor Leeds side as a yardstick for the season. Whitey - the Joan Of Arc of the BBS.
No one is accepting mediocrity. But a majority are realistic about our situation and understand what's going on. And I've enjoyed double the amount of games than I have over the past 2/3 years. So I'm relatively happy. Future planning/stretch targets and all that.
Agreed. Very few games where we have dominated a team. You could have added Derby at home to that small list if we hadn't tried our best to mess it up.
all 5 midfielders which i would class as a dream team vaz te, drinkwater, butterfield, perkins, o'brien, are gone/out thats half the team ( outfield) the guts, the engine room, the heart, who do you think hillflicker is..... paul fecking daniels, the mans got my utmost admiration and support may the force be with him !
Still beating on Robins then YT. He also kept us up, but then we weren`t little old Barnsley then we had the spending power of a Prem side hadn`t we. Wasn`t Davies coming here anyway before Robins left or do we have to give Hill credit for that and the academy have the players all been shipped in during the last 8 months and been taught how to play football. You once told us Lambert and Holt were polished into gold nuggets by Hill, that wasn`t true either was it. For christ sake keep it real and stop trying to make him out to be better than he his. He`s done a good job, we have played some good football and some poor football, but he, like previous managers can`t get the consistency.
Can't weigh you up Whitey because not 7 days ago you was fed up with Hill et all and now you are banging the BFC drum.
MrsHalls... How am I beating up on Mark Robins in my post? By calling him dull? Why, am I wrong? I thought he had the personality of an elephant on ketamine. And no, Davies wasnt coming anyway, another myth from fantasy island. KK signed him, ask Craig, or read his interview upon arrival. I didnt credit Keith, OR Mark, for the academy - re-read my post matey. I just said we had an exciting batch on our books - a positive for the club and its future is it not? I was wrong about Holt etc, a couple of months ago, and held my hands up to that at the time, so am baffled as to why you have brought that up. Are you never mistaken from time to time pal? And finally, how was my post trying to make KK out to be better than he is? I hardly referenced the bloke. I merely pointed out he was human, would make mistakes, and has worked with both hands tied behind his back. I wanted to put over a positive slant, albeit my own slant, on the season thus far. And I did admit the usual slump was hard to accept. I have been behind KK from day one, and I like what he's done so far, in the main, but I am no happy-clapper, and my previous posts over the season prove that. I have been as critical as anybody, when performances warranted it. But bizarrely, they get lost in the wesh. This board has 90% reasonable, realistîc posters. Then 10% posters who are blatant WUMs, or firmly locked in either camp. I may have wanted KK ere in May, and may have banged the drum in pre-season as well as defending him in August, but I am still human - like Keith - and my opinions will be open to change over time. . PS - Mark Robins did a great job with the budget he had at his disposal, and as I have said before, I didnt want him out, and when he left, I wasnt pleased. Far from it. I wished him well in his future endeavours and would love to see him back in a job as I would be keen to see how he
Its not banging the BFC drum Jack. If people such as you ask for reasons to be upbeat (I need convincing at times, I am human too), then I tried to put forward a few positives... I am disillusioned myself, check the My Bad thread I posted. But Im a naturally upbeat guy, upbeat fan. So am quite schizo at times with my posts. Weighing me up? 10st 6lbs mate
