I met Lee Johnson once socially he was alright , he wondered what he had done wrong to end up in a Barnsley high rise .

 

We met Lee Johnson in a Frankie & Benny's outside of the Scunthorpe ground prior to his announcement as our new manager.

He came over to our table and had a very long conversation with the four of us. He was incredibly knowledgeable of the club, the players and spoke of his admiration for the fans. He came across as a really nice and genuine individual. I don't really understand the animosity towards him, he isn't the first nor will he be the last Barnsley manager to leave for pastures new.

 

Yeah it's all a good laugh making jokes about people getting death threats. Jesus

 

Yeah well Conan built up his immense dislike for LJ based upon there being "no chance" for us to get promoted when he left us.

So accuracy is not his greatest attribute.

But if you challenge him he likes to question your personality.

Perhaps he's a nice bloke down the pub.

 

To be fair he took over from Wilson so he was stepping into big shoes so was up against it before a ball was kicked. People were comparing him to danny all the time. The 9 in a row didn't help but he did win 8 in a row? before he departed. He probley should have been sacked after all the defeats but he was on a 3 year deal. I have nothing against him and defiantly wouldn't wish him death threats.

Just a bloke doing a job. As for the death threat, if it even happened, when was the last time someone from Barnsley drove to bristol(more guns than Afghanistan) to shoot someone that they have no affiliation whatsoever with?

For some reason Toby just can't get over the fact that I said we wouldn't get promoted when Johnno was manager. Well, we will never know but for some reason he can't let it go. Strange.

I don't think anyone dislikes him purely because he left us, it's more to do with the fact that he was ever here in the first place.

I must admit having a little smile when I saw the article was about him, not that I condone death threats, and I doubt Conan does either.

I think this has been blown out of proportion to be honest.

Johnson made a right hash of organising a good squad of players for a long time, and broke a record in doing so. That's a big part of the legacy he left, nice bloke or not, and that's how he'll always be remembered at Oakwell.
