For all those that still think Bobby Hassel is a centre half.....

For all those that still think we don't need centre half cover........

We got out of jail against Stoke. The 2 tall strong lads up front for Stoke murdered our defence. Lets see what Cort does this weekend.
However, yer can't beat the spirit in the team right now. Its the best its been for years. To come back after being dead and buried shows something special.
    A good reflection on AR.

By the way, Shipperley would have scored 3 on Setdi, the number of chances that were created by the wingers

only if-as WE all seem to know-they play the ball along the ground to the forwards feet-even Tommy W -who should be the best header of the 4 main strikers -seems better with it at his feet

    Hassell.........

is a fine centre half-the problem on saturday was he had to do Tonge's job as well in the first half-it took Tonge til half time to get up to speed -Hassell was continually being pulled out of position to cover what Tonge should have been doing IMHO

He got skinned on our left near the halfway line in first half.

    RE: Hassell.........

Hassell was never going to do much at centre back in this game, not with the 'long kicks up field every chance they had to attack. Handled it well when it was on the floor though.
Agree with him getting pulled out wide to assist Tonge.

    RE: Hassell.........

Hassell played the left side of defence. problem Setdi was that imho Reid had a poor game, put Tongey in a bit of bother at times, plus the fact Devaney gave Tonge v little help ( Compared to McIndoe on left with Williams) , and so we were in a mess most of the game.

Luke Chadwick for me stood out among the 22 on the pitch for his work rate and skill. Told it's own story that when he went off we started to find space on the flank.

    RE: Hassell.........

One thing I dreaded when we signed MacIndoe was that he was known not to track back and get stuck in..... Totally the opposite though, against Norwich he was all over the place and again on Saturday he offered great support to Williams..... GREAT SIGNING

    RE: Hassell.........

For their second goal Tonge went for the header when he should have been out wide marking the winger. The ball went to their winger who had time and space to pick out their centre forward to knock it down 2-0.

Hassell should have been going for the first ball and telling Tonge to get wide. It seemed that both were at fault, although I do rate Bobby as a centre back, although saturday wasn't his greatesst match!

    Can't agree there Paul

I've liked Hassell in the central defence in the past but sadly he was just murdered there on Saturday. I didn't see him covering for Tonge at all, I just saw him totally out muscled by someone much more adept at the arial game than he was.

The really disappointing thing for me was that he seemed to realise he was totally outgunned and gave up a little in the first half. Even if you can't win the header you should at least jump and make a nuisance of yourself, if you can at least put the attacker off balance and render him less effective that way it's somthing. I saw a few times on Saturday when Hassle seemed to adopt the 'f'k it, I'm not going to beat him to it, so why try' attitude.

Not typical of him at all but we have to sort out a tall centre-back who can be used for games like this. If we'd have surrendered the skies so readily in WWII we'd all be speaking German by now!

    RE: Can't agree there Paul

First goal, our man in front of their lad who flicked the ball on went away from him, therefore allowed the ball to be flicked on.

Second goal, Bobby, ball watched and did not appreciate the threat of the second ball from the knock down.

Both bad goals. As for Reid he took a reight battering.

Reid and Hassell 10/10 for effort 5/10 for being small (but they can't help that)

Also if you're in the 'land of the giants' don't allow them to get crosses into the box. That happened time and time again on Saturday. Poor fullbacks Tonge mainly, first half particularly.

Finally team spirit 1,000 out of 10. I know that's not possible but I can't remember a time when I've felt as proud of our team !!!

    After thought

Hassel int a central defender he int big enough but there ain't a doubt that he's a good full back
As for Shipperley, the Sheff U fans (family members in Donny (doh) ) I talk to say he was good last season and he would do a great job for us in the championship

Wanna give any credit to our strikers? You know, the man with 4 in his last 5 games, and the rest of them that keep digging the defence out of trouble?

    How patronising of them.

Thank them for their concern if you get the chance.

I think they should should worry about their own team as it looks to me like they will struggle to get 20 goals let alone 20 points this season.
