he was at a supporters club meeting and was asked along the lines of why was so and so picked when he had a nightmare game-CM said-quite rightly-nobody goes onto the pitch intending to have a bad game-and that the team can usually cope if one or two are not at 100%-but if 3 or more are on a bad day-like yesterday-then that is where things go wrong-made sense to me anyway :)

Doesn't seem like wise words to me.

Why is McNulty played when hes crap?
Because the rest of us can cope and carry him.

Seems like a stupid thing to say.

I think it would have had more meaning if he said it with a lisp.

It's a football trusim handed down by Danny Wilson, I think. Rarely is a player 100% fit or performing 100% to the height of their ability, but a well functioning side can pull a weaker player up to their level or cover a below par performance. It's always been the way, not just in football but in any team.

Likewise, too many poor performances will affect another player's game, Luke Steele yesterday being a classic. Luke will always stop shots, but his visible hesitancy yesterday was a direct result of the shambles in front of him. The only thing I would criticise him for is not being an effective captain yesterday. There were 5 or 6 poor performances and Fozzie was frustrated at having to do Wiseman's and now McNulty's defending for them, giving him too much to do and pulling him out of position. A sending off was brewing but I think that might have been evaded by subbing McNulty not him.
