"I don't think you like Barnsley, Chris. The progress made by this club in the last six months has been nothing short of miraculous. It is only work in progress but for the team universally expected to be the bottom team, 13th at half way has to be worthy of comment. Can we push on, why not? In recent weeks we have had a few close games against the high fliers or local derbies which could easily have gone our way. We drew with Palace, Stoke and Southampton at home, lost to Sheff Wed, Sheff Utd, and Bristol City all by one goal and all could easily have been reversed. I believe that is our bad patch. We have some good strikers who have got no goals to speak of and no confidence. Macken was just coming good when Derby recalled him. Once we have the strikers scoring or new strikers in place just watch out. Best wishes, Roger Mulrooney. KAMMY SAYS: Simon Davey has done a wonderful job there and he has brought in some exceptional players. The goalkeeper Heinz Muller has looked very good and players such as Dennis Souza have proved that Barnsley's scouting system is second to none because they don't have much money to spend. He deserves a lot of credit. I'm not sure why you think I don't like Barnsley though Roger. I worked there as a coach and I was offered the chance to be the manager by John Dennis during his time there, but I turned it down because I was enjoying my work with Sky Sports. It is difficult for me to mention every team every week, but I believe Barnsley is a very good football club and I'm very impressed with what they are doing at the moment." I knew his son at school and he said to me that his Dad turned us down because he didn't like the situation there, i.e. struggling and had no money, and that working for Sky was brilliant and pressure free.
Poor Mans Andy Gray I remember when he turned down Everton, because he had no balls to leave his pressure free job on Sky. That's why I don't take anything he says seriously.
but AG was on more money at sky who would take a drop in salary for a job managing a premiership club with over ambitous fans, might have only lasted 18 months or so, i think he made the right descision
Kammy or Andy Gray? I know Gray turned down the job read like Kammy was offered it. Why not turn the job down - Gray's made for life at Sky with less pressure. Not a case of not having balls - too much pressure in life if you ask me - do a job you love for a good wage I'd do it !</p>
It's the same with all the pundits... Hansen talks like he's an oracle of all things football yet do we see him practicing what he preaches? Do we chuff. The fact is, they're onto a good thing so why should they risk it all and stick their neck on the line? I don't know what this gives us to conclude. Are they merely pontificating? Are they getting paid too much? Should they be paid less?
being offered an opportunity to prove yourself and having no balls to go through with it? I can't take anyone like that seriously.
Yes, that's right Excuse me Andy, you have a good job commenting on football and giving expert analysis having played at the top level of the game, would you like to give that up to be a manager of club, where you can feasibly expect to be out of a job again in 2 or 3 seasons?
