Special dispensation perhaps if we can arrange a pre-contract agreement. It's worth them investigating it at least.
why should they it is there to stop possible collusion-what if Man U loaned Chelsea a forward who was then picked tp play v Man U and deliberately didn't try?
I believe that's the only way we can get him to play If we agree to buy him at the end of the season, then he can play.
RE: I believe that's the only way we can get him to play But he'd still be contracted to them and as I understand it that's what the stumbling block is. As ES says I think it'd need special dispensation and I can't see us getting it mid tournament when we've got another goalie on the books.
no he can't (j) Temporary (loan) Transfers (i) A player on a temporary (loan) transfer is ineligible to compete in the Challenge Cup Competition unless permission to do so is given by the lending Club in writing and a copy is received by The Association by 12 noon on the Friday prior to the date fixed for playing the Round. A registered Trainee or a player who is registered on a Scholarship for work experience may play for another Club, subject to written permission being given by the Club that he is registered to and provided that such permission is received by The Association by 12 noon on the Friday prior to the date fixed for playing the Round. The Association will not give permission for players on loan or work experience to play against the lending Club.
Watford's keeper was forced to miss the semi final last year too as he was on loan from manchester united and they got them in the semi's. Having said that, the FA rules do state that under special circumstances for goal keepers the usual loan rules may not apply so considering we don't have two fit professional goalkeepers at the club we could argue that we need special dispensation.
no chance.......... .the dispenation is for the time limits and number of loanees
they will not allow Steele to play v WBA -it is too open to suspicion-Steele is contracted to and paid by WBA until the season end-if he was in goal for us there would be a massive conflict of interest-could WBA tell him not to try too hard-it won't happen -just hope we avoid them in the semis and they get knocked out

out of interest how do you know he is paid by west brom? and where have you read that the dispensation is for time limits and loan numbers? Also why is it a bigger conflict of interest than if he had been loaned to us from sheffield wednesday and we played each other on the final day of the season with the winner staying up?
RE: out of interest how do you know he is paid by west brom? if he's not paid by WBA there's something weird going on!!! we may be helping out
there are proviions for emergency loans outside the transfer windows:-

The Football League has negotiated a clause allowing the loan of players between it's 72 members outside of the transfer windowsin cases of emergency.

What is an emergency loan?
