http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAvi2Dvd.html Freebie, tried it last night and works fine, not the fastest but what do you want for nowt.
I was asking but a similar question ... ... my new dvd player plays DivX files so I can just create a Data DVD and copy the AVI file onto it (nodding2fingers) I'd already downloaded an episode of Heroes and was trying to watch it through the TV, now I can do it this way. BTW I bought a Samsung DVDVR355 (DVD recorder and VHS) for £158 - perfect for copying those old videos :$ I nearly went for the Freeview version, but decided not to pay the extra £90.
Jax - advice reqd Jax, sorry to bother you mate but I've just had an evening on Joshua Tetleys finest afore reading your post. I've downloaded the freebie but it is converting my avi files albeit with a "watermark". Is this right?
PS I'm no techie!!!

RE: Jax - advice reqd I didn't get a watermark. but i got my version from newsgroups, then found the website , if you continue having problems pm me i am sure something can be arranged,
Did you have any audio synch problems with it? I had terrible trouble with audio synch when playing with other softwares.
Me too For single AVI files I use DVD2SVCD to convert them to DVD. Old software and development ceased 2 years ago but still the best in my book. To make an episode DVD out of multiple AVI files, FAVC is my freeware solution of choice.
RE: Me too I always swore by SVCD2DVD and even PAID for it,,,,,,,,, but i have since found AVI DVD Burner to be a lot more sync friendly, i've never had one out of sync with it, and it is actually a fair bit quicker. Always save the ISO file and never burn straight off. The one i posted is another of the same ilk but a freeware one i tried as someone had asked about them the other day, SVCD2DVD is still my weapon of choice for converting Mpeg and bin files.
Nero will also do it I downloaded a cracked version from a torrent site ... which I assume is where you are getting the avi files from. I opted for a DivX compatable DVD player with a USB port. The DVD player I bought was soemthing like £45-55 from Sainsbury's, and does the job nicely - I think it's a Phillips Copy the files to my External hard drive and plug it into the DVD player, much less hassle than burning DVDs. Alternetively you can copy a whole season of AVI files from a US series onto 2 (sometimes 3) DVDs and watch them - or even 5 films on a single DVD. You'll go through a lot of more DVDs if you convert AVI to DVD.
