Seriously? There's nowt we can do to improve our chances of success by using advancements in monitoring, data, technology, knowledge?

 

As a Sport Scientist myself I thought the presentation was excellent. I viewed this presentation online when it was first published but decided against sharing it as I knew it would be ridiculed by a select of uneducated footballing dinosaurs who read this forum.

My lecturer at Sheffield Hallam Univeristy Dr Mayur Ranchordas was full of praise for Lee and Nathan. This guy has worked with Olympic Gold medalists and is the Head of Nutrition at Bolton and he certainly knows his stuff. He has himself presented at the Science and Football conference in previous years. He said what he saw from Lee was of elite standard and could be compared closely to what he has seen from top managers aged 35-45 including Brendan Rodgers, Roberto Martinez, Mauricio Pochettino. He said Lee's attention to detail and understanding of the importance of science within sport will allow him to go to the very top in the modern game.

 

to be fair to lee , I have been reading his philosophy to my pet cockatoo ever since it was released and you wont believe the effect its had, he as totally taken it on board with amazing results

Give over. The areas if the pitch that he has laughingly named deserve nothing but laughter. The sports science with regards players fitness and the monitoring is nothing to criticise but the ******** about bomb alley and individual brilliance zone is laughable and that is nothing to do with being a dinosaur.

A little tip for any manager wanting to employ bomb alleys near the corner flags: play wingers. If a manager plays with 5 central midfielder ****ing each other off in the centre circle he cannot attempt to tell people that his philosophy is to use bomb alleys out wide. You just can't do it without being ridiculed.

Actually let's look at the actual scinece part and monitoring players fitness every day and just remember that last seasons squad had dale Jennings and Keith treacy in it and ask ourselves how well did this fat monitoring really work?

 

It's just a way of breaking down a footballing philosophy into clearly defined and easy to understand framework.

I don't think there's anything wrong with defining areas of the pitch and breaking it down to help players. Nothing at all.

But, quite simply, the names are just really really funny.

 

But you can't claim to have a philosophy (with stupid names) and then prove week after week that you are not actually using that philosophy in any way shape or form.

Course you can. Quite simply, you don't get a side playing that type of football at our level in the space of 6 months. I think we're seeing some signs of what he's trying to do and because of that I support him.

 

The thing is Lee, his staff and the players will find them funny too.

They'll all take the piss out of it in training. But at the same time they'll understand exactly what it is about.

 

No doubt about it. And I'm getting a flag with every one of these on to remind the lads.

 

No one is questioning the science behind the paper. Just the piss funny names.
