Something about George Best I never realised.....

Many people are knocking George for being an alcoholic. His mother died aged 54 in Belfast...through...you guessed it...alcoholism.

Now, this disease has been proved to be hereditary - if his mother drunk heavily during her pregnancy, is it suprising that George developed the same dependancy. It's not really his fault is it?

You're right CT! It's in his Autobiography 'Blessed' published in 2001.

He'd also 'fallen out' with her at the time, although they were reconciled before she died.

I'm not sure whether that negates the 'hereditary' argument or not - given Georgie was probably already an alcoholic before his mum started drinking!

Pot, kettle, black comes to mind.

He may talk "B*ll*cks" but at least he is capable of talking "B*ll*cks" in proper English.
