Why is it that when it comes to election time the party in power says we don't have enough police so they promise more police, we don't have enough hospitals so they promise more hospitals, people are being taxed too much so they promise tax cuts etc. Forgive me if I'm wrong but aren't the party in power the ones who set the tax levels? Who decided how many hospitals and police we have today? Isn't it essentially them saying "we have screwed you for the last 4 years. Vote for us and we'll undo what we've done"?
I'm talking about in general not just this time. They did it last time too and the time before that. I was careful to say the party in power and not to say the Tory scum
The Tories are quite clever in one respect. They've cut everything for well over a decade but to make things better they then suggest increasing things to something like they were before 2010 as if they're doing us a favour and suggested levelling up as an idea when they've levelled everyone down for donkeys years. And STILL some people vote for em.
If you are a Tory donor, you will have done quite well in the last 14 years. The rest of the country looks obliterated in terms of opportunity, health care, social services & crime prevention. Not to mention the rivers, undrinkable water, the transport system, even immigration TBH, as it was their flagship policy.
OP was correct. It's not just the Tories who do it. Every single election the standing government will lay similar claims which ever party it is in power.
Too much time spent with the two main parties criticising each other. I can get that sort of crap at home.
Sunak has just responded to a question from the Telegraph by saying Labour will put up taxes and cost everyone 2k, just in case you have missed him mentioning this previously. https://www.theguardian.com/politic...ction-keir-starmer-labour-latest-live-updates
The Tories can make any promises they like because they’re safe in the knowledge that they won’t be in power to carry them our.
Its beyond grim we have another liar as Prime Minister. So much for integrity, honesty and accountability.
They always have made any promises they like regardless of whether they are in power they don't carry them out.
I saw something the other day where someone reviewed their promises in the last manifesto and only 2 had been done I’ll try and find it again
