Something that's surprised me (none footy)

I always thought that if you bought fruit and veg from a market it was much fresher than a supermarket. That's always been the big selling point hasn't it?

Was a bit surprised to see that the fruit and veg stalls of the new market were being stocked up with veg from various different suppliers on a Wednesday for a grand opening on Saturday.

If the veg is put out on Barnsley market on Wednesday and arrives at the market in various different branded boxes
Then when did it arrive at the supplier before the market?
And when did it get boxed or bagged up at the supplier that supplied the wholesaler?
And when was it harvested ready for packing?

Is it well known that it sits around at the market from Wednesday till Saturday before going on sale?

 

Could it be unripe produce that will ripen in time? I would expect that people who have been running fruit and veg stalls for years know what they are doing.

 

Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining or saying it isn't good stuff, I was just a bit surprised as I kind of assumed it was all stocked and sold pretty much on a daily basis at a market but now I take it that they all do it like this. I can't see this trader doing anything different to all the others really so it must just be what happens

 

A few years back went on a lorry trip to italy. Brought Grapes back to smithfields.
They were that hard they had the consistancy of gooseberries. Really hard . two weeks before made it to supermarket shelves

Frozen peas are best from supermarket unless knicking em from field and eating on the go.

It may be a football forum first and foremost, but all sorts get posted on here. Threads debating whether there's a God, fruit and veg threads and even people posting their wedding pictures, bizarrely enough.

Surprised admin haven't done anything about it to be honest, it's quite clear and deliberate harassment and the hypocrite then has the cheek to accuse people of bullying or harassing hemsworth tyke

 

If his signature is supposed to be about me then I'd like to make it clear here to everyone that I have never met LDRed in my life and I have no intention of doing so. I'm hoping that by ignoring him he'll move on, I mean it's only been 3 years since I got married so it's bound to happen any day now, right?
