    I just got sent the following message privately through My Space, off someone who's not a contact. Any idea what I should send back to him as a reply? It's a 29 year old guy from Colarado............

    Do you want Eternal Life?

    May I ask you a question? Has anyone ever taken a bible and shown you how you can know for sure that you’re going to heaven? The Bible contains both bad news and good news. The bad news is something about us. The good news is something about God. Let’s look at the bad news first.

    We are all sinners. Lets take a look at Romans 3:23. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” “Sinned” means that we have missed the mark. Some sins seem bigger than others because their obvious consequences are much more serious. Murder, for example seems to us to be worse than hatred, and adultery seems worse than lust. But this does not mean that because we do lesser sins we deserve eternal life. All sin makes us sinners, and all sin cuts us off from our Holy God. All sin, therefore leads to death (because it disqualifies us from living with God), regardless of how great or small it seems, thy all separate us from God, but they can all be forgiven. Romans 3:9-18 says:
    “What then? Are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
    As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
    There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
    They are all gone out of the way, they are all together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no not one.
    Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips;
    Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
    Their feet are swift to shed blood:
    Destruction and misery are in their ways:
    And the way of peace have they not known:
    There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

    When the Bible says that “All have sinned and fall short”, it means that we have all come short of God’s standard of perfection. In thoughts, words, and deeds, we have not been perfect. The penalty for sin is death. Lets take a look at Romans 6:23. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The Bible says that by sinning we have earned death. That means we deserve to die and be separated from God forever.
    2 Thessalonians 1:6-10 says:
    “Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
    And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be reviled from heaven with his mighty angels,
    In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ;
    Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
    When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.”

    The good news is that Christ died for us. Since there was no way we could come to God, the Bible says that God came to us! Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” While we were yet sinners-these are amazing words. God sent Jesus to die for us. Not because we were good enough but because he loved us so much. The Bible says Christ took the penalty that we deserve for sin, placed it upon himself, and died in our place. Three days later Christ came back to life to prove that sin and death had been conquered and that His claims to be God were true. 1 Peter 2:24 says: “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” Isaiah 53:4-6 says:
    “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
    But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
    All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
    Titus 3:4-7 says: “ But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
    Not by the works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
    Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior;
    That being justified by his grace, we should be heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

    Romans 3:21-26 says: “But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
    Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference;
    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
    Whom God hath set fourth to be an appropriation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
    To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”

    John 3:16-18 says: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
    He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

    Lets’ talk about faith. We can be saved through faith in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 says
    “For by grace (undeserved favor) are ye saved (delivered from sin’s penalty) through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Faith means trust. Question: What must we trust Christ for? Answer: We must depend on him alone to forgive us and give us eternal life. It’s not payer that saves you, it is trusting Jesus Christ that saves you. Prayer is simply how you tell God what you are doing. Would you like to tell God you are trusting Jesus Christ as your Savior? Let’s take a moment to pray and to tell God that we are trusting His Son.

    “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I know my sin deserves to be punished. I believe Christ died for me and rose from the grave. I trust Jesus Christ alone as my Savior. Thank You for the forgiveness and everlasting life I now have. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

    quote back something from roger hargreaves - 'mr impossible' sounds a good place to start - miracles and all that. it is written down after all, so it must be true. follow that up with a few juicy excerpts from 'the gospel of the flying spaghetti monster' - i like the bit about global warming in relation to the declining number of pirates going about, swashing their buckles.
