Davey getting Steele in on loan. Blinding choice from him.
OK I'm sure the cynical out there will say he struck lucky, but the lad was a Man United youth player so clearly had pedigree.
The thing I was most worried about for that game was having to play a keeper nobody knew anything about. When I heard we'd signed a 23 year old third choice from West Brom, I thought Davey was bonkers, when I heard he was ex-Man U I settled down a bit.
You can say Davey got lucky, and I'd agree to some extent ... but I don't beleive he went out there and took the first keeper that was offered to him. From some of the stuff I've heard he'd been watching this lad on the back of their being so much speculation about Mulller - and the way I read that, it's good planning - you never know when a club might come in with an offer the baord can't refuse and take the whole decision ouit of your hands. He's made some excellent player selections while in charge and this (while somewhat make or break) is another one to add to the list.
