Ok Johnny i left the Army in1954 i had been driving a Leyland hippo for the past 2 tears, Korea ,then Egypt
came home,went to YTC for a pre release course
arrived at the depot to report
the manager came down to meet me he looked at 5 .2
they fetched me a Bus, he said sit in the driving seat,i could not reach the pedals,so they fetched a bus conduters box and put at the back of the seat
and i was ok
next i was intoroduced to my teacher
an old timer
a Mr wilmur greaves
i went down sheff road towards cutting end
he did not know i had been driving leyland for 2 years, the gear change very slow,he was counting them telling me to change
after a while,he sat down
went thro Birdwell up Howbrook
im enjoying it did not know where to go, i looked back
to see him fast asleep
