But we had them beat. 2-0 up we really should not have lost that one.

Yeah great performance from the team but had we tightened up at 2-0 and put more men behind the ball maybe we could have won that one.

Not a lot between the teams. Lets hope that this form we produced tonight continues for the coming league games.

    Onwards and upwards.

Delifou and Barkley made the difference when they came on. Pure class. What a game!

Can't criticise our lads for efforts tonight. I want to see more of that fighting spirit and team play. We were awesome.

Got to agree. Their changes gave them some proper premier league quality and it showed when we were undone down the right time after time. No shame in losing tonight, we ran them very close and put on a fantastic display. More of the same in the league now because we won't come up against quality like we did tonight very often.

I've a feeling we'd have lost worse than that if we'd put men behind the ball, Ian. It's a no-win situation, because if you go defensive and lose, people would say "why didn't we carry on doing what we were doing!" It was certainly more exciting to see us try to keep on and give them something to think about. And if those shots against the woodwork......................!

Anyway, who wants an away tie at Reading? Bet Everton aren't looking forward to that one!

To be honest, i thought we approached the game in the right manner. We made two mistakes to let them come back to two all, if we could have avoided those and kept it tight for and hour, they would have got more anxious, then who knows what happens.

I wonder if we can get Delifou on loan?

When we got everyone behind the ball we let two in. It was more about them than us that they came back into it.

Disagree. They had the ability to change gears and had pure class to come off the bench. I never felt like we would win that game, even at 2-0 up. Was an outstanding performance, to give as good as we did.

I think we did drop back behind the ball 2nd half, mostly because Barkley came on at half time and ran the game for them. I thought it was only a matter of time before they scored and once they got the first one I thought it was all over.

However, it was a great entertaining match, we scored 3 goals against a team of internationals, were unbeaten over 90 minutes and only went behind to an own-goal. If we can take that forward into the league, promotion should be nailed on.

Shame Hourihane's effort didn't go in. Really looking forward to watching it again on the telly as most of the goalmouth action was at the other end from me in the Ponty.
