very much so..... question is do we need him? There's no doubting he's a quality player with bags of potential, but Derby will want a substantial fee for him and I question whether he is he any better than Souza or Foster? Early season Foster played right full back and made the position his own, and the central pairing (Nyatanga & Souza) worked well. Problem is when Nyatanga went back to Derby in January, Foster was switched to centre half and also staked his claim for that position. When Nyatanga returned he struggled to find form and re-claim his place ahead of either Foster or Souza. If fit I assume Davey will select Foster and Souza, meaning Nyatanga either warm the bench or played left full back. I have two major concerns with this: 1. Although I beleive he is a quality centre half, I have serious doubts about him playing full back role. 2. If he isn't likely to start ahead of Foster & Souza, can we really jusify paying transfer fee when money could be better spent on a quality striker? Personally I would sign him and play Nyatanga & Souza in the middle and move Foster to right full back. But SD made it clear towards the latter end of the season that he prefered Foster / Souza partnership.
Think the key point is that he will be an investment who will only get better and we will make money on in the future
Wonder if the agreement we had assumed Derby staying up After the abject showing of their apology for a defence this season I could quite understand Jewell deciding to Hang on to Nyatanga - especially after saying he was going for a wholesale clear out , and that all next years money has already been spent. it would be nice to have him next season as it gives us more strength in depth but honestly I wouldnt have him in my first choice team Hassell Foster Souza and Kozluk at the back - Nyatanga and or Van Homoet on the bench. If he doesnt sign for us next season its not a major disaster
A fee as been agreed for nyatanga, that was part of the loan terms and conditions, however he as yet to agree his own terms to join the club and davey also stated in an interview earlier deals have already been done for nyatanga and steele stop panicin
