Breaking news about her health. Statement in the HoC by the speaker. Starmer handed a note & lots of glum faces in there.

Obviously hope she's okay, but more pressingly, will they cancel fixtures at the w/e if she goes? Selfish? Absolutely, but it's my first game of the season and I was looking forward to a decent sesh...

I bet they will. Meanwhile, and with no offence intended, I’m off to somewhere very remote for the duration. There’s only so much Nicholas Witchell-style sycophancy I can tolerate.

A visit from Liz Truss is enough to make anybody badly.. Chin up Madge.. :)
I hope she makes the century, always wondered if she would get a telegram from herself? Best to have the sick bags on standby though, true.

Wishing her well. She's been a magnificent servant to this country.

The really galling thing - and the Tories will be rubbing their hands - is that it would prevent any sort of scrutiny of their ridiculous policies for weeks to come.

CBA with the Royal family, I'm guessing we'd get a day off, but I'd just work through otherwise would feel a bit hypocritical as I want them abolished.

After all the PMs she's shook hands with, to end on the last 4, Cameron, May, Johnson and Truss, you've got to feel sorry for the old lass.

You what? Of all the issues facing the country you think the death of a symbolic figurehead is what we need to worry about?

I think we'll cope without her waving, it's Liz ******* Truss I'm worried about.

She’s the very least of our worries. A sovereign figurehead with zero influence on political decision making.

I’m a Republican. But more than that I’m a human being and wish her all the best.

It may sound harsh but when the inevitable happens be it now or in the future I’ll be annoyed if any reds matches get affected. Most people aren’t fussed about the Monarchy, or don’t have a strong enough opinion either way for it to affect their lives massively.

The country grinding to a halt for a day, fair enough. But the endless, nothing happening for days on end when Diana sadly died was a bit much.

It's meeting them two fooking nuggets on Tuesday that's sent her over the edge.

    Yep same here ,
On a personal note she is a mum, grandma , great grandma ,Aunt etc and on that basis she has all my best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery .
On the media saturation even though I don’t like it I suppose she is the head of state and until such times we cease to adhere to this system it’s inevitable .

Thank the lord there are no Fascist governments in Europe for King Charlie to cosy up to like his great uncle did....

Oh hang on a minute, I'd forgotten about Truss's lot.

On a serious note, I see no reason for normal life to grind to a halt on the event of her death. Maybe a public holiday for the funeral as a mark of respect but otherwise nothing.
