Course he needs more chances. Would say however, that he was completely at fault for the first goal and played a heavy part in the third by being skinned twice on the wing. The first one should definately have been his but he was on cruise control. Played well in spells between though and looked very promising at Oakwell in pre-season.
Big fan of Steele, but he should have saved 3rd goal, that was awful. Also, 7goals in 3games! Need I say anymore Luke!!!
It would have helped him if he'd had someone in the midfield 'doubling up' with him against their attackers. I don't think he played well but he's young and was woefully exposed.
The third goal took a deflection. Out of all the goals he's conceded, I'd probably point the finger at him for one. That being Coventry's second on Saturday. He's not had much of a chance with any of the rest, and certainly not with the set of imbeciles we have for defenders.
Difficult game for him He was left one-on-one with their winger on numerous occasions. Sometimes Luke got the upper hand at other times it was the opposition forward. A young lad like that needs a hell of a lot more help from his colleagues. They let him down tonight.
Bit harsh on Steele. The third was a deflection and the other two goals he had very little chance with.
Agreed Hammil gave him no help whatsoever. And as Hammil did nothing going forward you've got to ask where the hell he was.
RE: The third goal took a deflection. You say the defenders are rubbish yet Darren Moore and Stephen Foster were voted the MOTM awards for tonight and Saturday. Explain!!!!!
RE: Difficult game for him Was delighted when Barnsley signed Hammill, yet he has been woeful against Coventry & PNE
I thought Foster did ok on Saturday, and was definitely the best of a bad bunch. Tonight, the man of the match was Iain Hume, with Steele running him a close second. How they came to the decision, that Moore should be named man of the match, still eludes me.
RE: I thought Foster did ok on Saturday, and was definitely the best of a bad bunch. How can u suggest a goalkeeper for MOTM who concedes three goals!!! RU avin a giraffe!!!!!
Very narrow minded of you. You do understand that there are 10 other players in front of the goalkeeper, and that the goalkeeper is the last line of defence? I've seen and played in matches where goalkeepers have conceded 7,8,9 goals and played a blinder, easily earning the man of the match award. It's a TEAM game. Steele is a good, solid goalkeeper, and was sold short, once again, by his comedic renegades in defence tonight.
Steady on Hammill is a youngster and a hot prospect we have tied up on a long term deal. I still think that is good business. He is not our saviour, nor a one-man team. It just happens he's our only summer signing to feature thus far and is therefore subject to weight of expectation that needs to be tempered.
3 out of 4 aint bad????? Out of Moore, Foster & Hassell who is the weak defence??? Accept Kozluk and Potter can be liabilities.
