    Seriously. He's a dreadful defender.

He has the 'odd' moment of brilliance, but other than that - he's awful. Hassel needs to come in or if not, even Paul Reid is better than him.

Howard needs stripping of the captaincy too. His debacle on Saturday was the culmination of what's been a terrible few months for him, he hasn't played well since the Wolves game.

17th place and If we lose on Saturday and the teams below us pick up points, we're in a dog fight once again. A much improved performance and result is required on Saturday in what will be a very very tough match. If we aren't at the races, we WILL get mauled.

    Come on Barnsley.

He's a class defender having a bad spell. How many man of the match awards has he won? Might as well say Nardiello's dreadful as he hasn't scored in any game this season!

Class? He's been poor in 90% of the games, he's always good for a mistake which at this level just isn't good enough. Sure, he makes the odd good tackle or brilliant piece of play - but overall, for me - he just isn't good enough. Hassell needs to be back in the back 4.

    I agree.

Far too inconsistent. Just look at the goals on sat FFS.

Was he the only defender playing on Saturday then?

    No, but...

He was at fault for at least 3 of the goals and his jittery play over the recent months ALWAYS leaves the fans on the edge of their seats, so what can it be doing for the rest of the team.

He isn't AWFUL, but he isn't any better than Hassel or Reid in my opinion and one of those two needs to step in and fill the gap that is opening up.

It was no surprise for me to see the 4 goals go in on Saturday, Cov aren't a bad side and to be quite truthful - since we played Wolves at home, we have been very poor. The only half decent performances were the first half against Soton and the match against Stoke. The only reason we won against Southend and Colchester was because of the poorness of the opposition.

    3 goals? Which ones?

I thought first was a decent turn and shot...second was his fault....third...wtf was Warner doing...and fourth was Tininho's fault

    At last.....sense

He does need dropping, back Four Kozluk, Hassell, Foster & Nyatanga. Souza makes too many mistakes and none of the full backs can defend, they're ok going forward but thats about it.

I think Foster is better at full back. But I agree about Tininho and Van Homoet, alright going forward (nothing more) but poor at defending

    Yes, 3.

The first one, Best shouldn't have been allowed to turn like that and get a shot away.

The second one was just piss poor.

The third, he was to blame as was Warner (partially). Souza SHOULDN'T have let the ball bounce. First rule of defending. He did, Warner had to come for it at that point and he lost out.

The fourth was Tininhos fault, yes.

Foster is by far the best Centre half at the club, but

he is also the best fullback too.
Tininho is not a defender, Van Homoet is piss poor, Hassel is good and Kozluk is better than what we have seen from him this season.

And where does Nyatanga fit into this equation. From what I saw, he was just as culpable as Sousa on the second one and on all the others he was just stood watching with his hands on his hips, doing nothing.
