    who reckons that Ryan lost his rag with Penney who had become convinced he was bigger than the Rovers, and wanted away. But it seems no-one wanted him.

    there was something on either teletext or ceefax which quoted ryan as saying he thought penney was dissapointed a big club didnt come in for him during the summer,especially after seeing phil parkinson and paul simpson join championship clubs.</p>

    the real reason penney left was ryan sacked 1 of tehir coaches as he was **** and Penney was good mates with him and wanted him back, Ryan wouldnt allow this so they 'parted company' but are still friends he said this was on rovers world

    Parkinson and Simpson both got clubs promoted.

    Penny didnt.

    He took them from bottom end of conference to League One- not bad for a ex-bricky.</p>

    He couldn't get Donny any higher though with a good budget.</p>
