I have to admit I had some reservations about last nights gig having seen them being less than impressive on Later With Jools Holland recently. I was very, very wrong. They did a fantastic set; chocka block full of old classics delivered with energy and verve. If you can bag a ticket on E-bay for any of their shows on this tour do so. An absolute treat. Anyone else go?
No but was at Donny station last night and saw lots of pairs of blokes dressed up waiting for Sheffield train, thought to mi sen "must be a gig on in Sheff" coz they were wearing funny shoes, fred perry's and had big sideburns For a moment i panicked and though is Sir Bob playing tonight, but then realised it must be Specials and Dylan is indeed tonight where i will be taking my place a mere 8 rows from the front "Meet me at the bottom, don't lag behind Bring me my boots and shoes You can hang back or fight your best on the frontline Sing a little bit of these workingman's blues"
Nice one. They were not 'going through the motions'. A very good show. Would appear I'm not alone in thinking this...
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/apr/24/specials-pop-academy-newcastle-review

Going to see them later in May at Leeds Cant wait. Pity its not the full line up but all but one is pretty good.
thought they were the dogs last nightwish id gone to watch them when they were at the top 30 years ago
Me as well mate. Ive got brilliant memories of being 16ish being into the Specials, Selecter, Beat et al. Dancing with all the mates and buying all the two tone gear, fred perrys, loafers. Fecking excellent days.
Do any of you lads get to the "mod night" at Fitzy pit club? Havent been yet myself but they reckon its an excellent night.
Gutted I missed it. I saw Madness a couple of years ago and they were fantastic. Chose to get standing tickets and was so glad I did; it was just like being back in 1982 all over again (Y)
