I asked for a MORE spectacular comeback There was still 75 minutes to go against Fulham and we had 11 men on the pitch. For me, today was the most spectacular comeback, under the circumstances, that I've ever witnessed from a Barnsley side in forty years.
Did tha go? I went. Lime green wedding present gerge best tee shirt on if tha's got t'vid. (cheers mort)
I think that is a bit strong It was brilliant today, not only because of events on the pitch but also because of the pressure pre-match, league position, the transfer of that midfield bloke (can't quite put my finger on his name at the moment). Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. But I really can't say best in 40 years. Personally I think the West Ham one was better - 2 goals down against a premiership (effectively) side.
Also not really spectacular.... Leicester in cup. Archie last minute screaming exocet piledriver. Then win on pens after extra time.
Also Barnsley 3 Exeter 4 We were 3-0 up at half time. Rumour has it the directors ordered the capitulation because we couldn't afford to go up, allegedly.
RE: Opposition: Ipswich 3-3. Probably not an empathtic comeback as such, but 19 months ago, we went behind to Plymouth away on a tuesday night on 15 minutes, we came back to win 4-2, that's what football is all about. Only remaining player that night, two goal scorer Devany, with Hassell unused, the building blocks of saving our bacon.
2 v stockport the 4-1 up to 4-4 in 79ish and 4 or 5 years ago.... the 3 up and playing the samba at h/t and just squeezed a 3-3 out of it in the end, not sure if they were down to 10 men too?
