As a team I feel we are lightweight, and make it to easy for the opposition. I do believe we have some very good young players but they need leadership. We need leaders right through the side.

Our captain. Alfie is a good lad but at 21 is he captain material? I feel both Mawson & Naytanga would benefit playing alongside a no nonesense was centre half. He doesn't have a good partnership with Naytanga and looked far more confortable alongside Roberts.

Pearson, Scowen, Hourihane if we play 4-4-2 are fighting for same position in the middle. All like to get forward and none claim to be holding midfielders. What we lack is a Hugo Colace, Nathan Doyle, Hassell, Shez or Appleby type player. No flair, does the ugly stuff, breaks up opposition attacks and starts ours. Our midfield don't breakdown attacks or intercept. They get bypassed. If we had any of the above imho we would not be in this mess. I dare say Luke Berry did a job last year in holding role and Hourihane thrived in central partnership as a result.

Forwards we have are all young lads. What we lack is an old fashioned no nonesense player to do a job and give the opposition a tough ride. We had same issue last season until Waring and Ibhere arrived. Both gave as good as they got, they held up play, linked attack and midfield well, created space for others. Even though he isn't the biggest Jackson has shown he can do the ugly stuff. And he looks like he would partner well with anyone.

Get Roberts back alongside Alfie or Naytanga. If Hugo is fit gerrim signed up to do the ugly stuff and others can bomb forward. And perhaps look for at forward line again. Jackson & Toney would be my choice.

This is where Peter Ramage would have helped. No nonsense, interested in coaching but could do a good job at this level in defence, allthough perhaps not every game. We need some experience, leadership and aggression.

Someone like Ramage would have been the leader we are crying out for.

If in the summer we retained Berry and Lalkovic and brought back Ramage, Devante Cole, Ibhere Imagine how different performance would be... All of the above would walk into this side.

    Davies
    Bree, Mawson, Ramage, Smith
    Lalkovic, Berry, Hourihane, Hammill
    Ibhere & Cole

Remember when Robins came how 3 influential loan signings changed us completely i.e. Nathan Doyle, Carl Dickinson, and Ryan Shotton...

Even Waring last term... We need character!
