Yayyy. SPL are considering allowing clubs to pilot safe standing areas at grounds! About bloody time -now let's see the English FA follow suit and bring some atmosphere back to football.

It's a myth that standing adds to the atmosphere. You can still chant and sing along just as much sat down.

Have to disagree with you. Did you go to Peterborough the other week?

Do you understand what the concept of 'safe standing' means? It wont be done how Peterborough have done it so you cant really use that example.

No I didn't. So what can you do to add to atmosphere stood up that you can't sat down? You can still chant loudly, join in with songs, wave your hands about and all that. I'd rather we didn't go back to the dark ages of standing.

Bring back standing, the sooner the better. At least give it a trial. People would then at least have a choice. I for one would be standing, at least you can keep warmer by moving about or do a few star jumps!

You certainly live up to your reputation, TBF! Safe standing areas are, well, safe. Clue's in the name. There is massive support to bring standing back. Anyone who thinks the atmosphere hasn't suffered with all-seater stadiums needs their bumps felt.

Yes you can, but people just don't. Simple as that. I've stood in some bloody awful away ends down the years, and would take that atmosphere over the new breed of football morgues anyday.

And how much would it cost to revert back to standing? It wouldn't just be a case of taking some seats out. Also, people saying "why not trial it", the cost involved in that and then potentially putting the seats back in.

Exactly. Then wherever the standing area was brought in at Oakwell you'd have people moaning it should be somewhere else. Most would no doubt want it put in the Ponte, yet would it be fair moving existing season ticket holders out of a specific area in there to rip out seats? No it wouldn't.

Best atmosphere we've ever had at Oakwell

Premiership season. Every game it was white hot. We were all seating then.

Sure, the early 80s were good too, lot's of us have great memories of that time, but for week in, week out guaranteed atmosphere, win, lose or draw you can't beat the Premiership season. And we were all sat down.

Not sure my bumps need feeling though.

    To be fair:

Not many Scots are ever standing up as they're generally p1ssed up on that booze & stuff.

The Irish are also thick & the Welsh have intercourse with sheep.

    Oh yes.

    Simple solution:

Get rid of all 4 stands.
Have 4 massive Legends Suites instead.
You can stand, sit down, get a beer, stay dry & boff one of the bar staff in the disable bogs if you want.

I think there would be a small financial implication to my plan.
But - with all our winnings from thereevs excellent naps - we'll be able to self finance it.

    Personally - I can't find a flaw in it.

Yep, sell-out home sections, big away followings, Premiership football - of course it was a good atmosphere. But unless we get back up there, we're not going to see that again very soon.

Where would the money come from? We have barely enough money to buy players now - we'd have even less if we had to change the ground again. Nice idea for those with cash - financially we aren't in a position to do this. West Stand has got to be our priority.
