    He was the guest speaker at our law society sports dinner, and after presenting me with my player of the year award, I asked him about Scott. He described him as a brilliant lad who will, in his opinion, play for England in the future. He also stated that Wigan and Chelsea both wanted Scott, and that if Scott is not in our first team next season, he will request a move.

    Meh..

    I'm drunk - he didnt tell me in confidence, it was a fairly open conversation infront of a hell of a lot of law students, so it can hardly have been that secret. I think he said that "he thinks" Scott will request a move if he's not in our first team - but he emphasised how talented and how nice a lad Scott is.

    RE: When did you flee the Tarn?

    My best mate was Dave Hargreaves (Haggis) but we were sent to Kendray Oaks from Ash area (no education / no competiton except feighting). So most of our mates were really from Ash / Ardsley. but still used to knock about with Wombwell lads, mainly underage drinking / footy matches / fingering lasses etc.

    Can't recognise any of the names you said though. Fled tarn in 87 went to London to work.

    Warra bout thee Nutkins?

    Crewey = Paul Crew

    Cemetary Road. Used to do child labour with him for me dad and his bus partner. Aldham Coaches / Wombwell Coaches. Crewy a Sparky now I think.

    Funny as **** this .. and then I'm off to bed ....

    We had this lad called "Sucker" that used to be in child labour camp, me Crewy, Sucker. So top of Cemetery Road, Harry Harris gets a bus tyre delivered, needs it in yard by opposite Mrs.White's shop bottom of road. so he shouts "sucker, divert this tw@t when it get to you". Set's it off and Cem Rd is quite steep, Sucker is there no probs size 12 boot stuck out, only bowled sucker over went straight across Barnsley Road and ended up going down Littlefield Lane totalling a couple of cars, over disused railway and ending up near them ponds. Sucker had the tyre treads for weeks on his face.

    One of them great moments in life
