ALEX McLEISH is cursing the loan system rules after landing a £1.3million bill for Jermaine Jenas' two hours of football. Premier League regulations say Aston Villa must pay the Spurs star's wages until the end of his season-long loan — even though he will be out for the next six months. And they will not be allowed to bring in a replacement for the 28-year-old midfielder. Villa boss McLeish said: "We can only sign one more loan player in January now because Jermaine still counts. We've got to look at that rule." Jenas missed two months with a groin injury after joining Villa in August. And Saturday's injury against Manchester United came in only his third appearance. But Villa still have to pay Jenas around £1.3m in wages plus his medical bills so he is in good shape when he returns to Spurs!
I don't think they'll be laughing; they're the parent club after all and one of their players is injured.
