Always thought of them as a good young English side with a strong English core. No wonder Bale wants to go, in a dressing room where all his mate's have been sold and new teammates who probably can't speak English. AVB has ruined all the good spirit they had, good players but my mate who watches them every week isn't too pleased with it. Look strong but there a new team with not much of a pre season. But with financial fair play and without Bale been sold yet how have they afforded all these players.
Pretty sure Bale had his heart set on leaving well before the players were sold. From what I have seen, Spurs still seem to have good team spirit and have replaced average players with some real quality. They could never do that within the same budget if they wanted to buy solely from these shores. Spurs have always turned over a profit, have no huge debts and although have spent a lot, they have recouped a lot from sales and reducing the wage bill too. Of course, when Bale goes, they will have made a small profit on players in/out, so FFP isnt an issue. if Bale had decided to stay, the team would have been built around him and im sure we wouldnt have seen anywhere near as many players coming in.
Levy has played an absolute blinder this summer. Must have known Real were interested in Bale and roughly what they'd pay, so got the money spent on replacements before word got out. In doing so they've probably saved £10million on each player they've brought in, by the selling clubs not hiking the prices knowing the Bale cash is available. As an individual he's close to irreplaceable for Spurs, but they've added 3 or 4 real quality players to the squad with the money. I expect them to finish top 4 this year.
