This post shows what a mess we're in. Desperately need 5-6 decent players.

Unless we get some more players in this season is going to be an uphill struggle for us.

    Yep.

A month ago I was preaching to the worried suggesting there was plenty of time to recruit, etc etc.

But I'm not far off worrying myself now.

Take Cranie, COG and TK out of that list and we're even more desperate for numbers.

I think we actually could see a matchday 18 with at least 10 being academy lads.

    Scary? Exciting? Good/bad?

Dunno. But definitely worrying, just because of the unknowns around it.

Connor, Hemmings, and even Hoskins have nailed there colours to the mast....but now 2 weeks into players not earning, most will not commit..not just to us but other clubs

It would be fare to say that Any out of contract player we get from here on in..is just a journeyman..

Last Season: Give kids a chance the senior players we've got aren't good enough.

This Season: Not enough experience need more signings.

So we drop a league to an easier level yet people now seem less confident in giving the kids a go.

The worry is often the unknown. We don't yet know what our squad is going to be. If this is it, or if there are some exits and arrivals.

To be honest, i'm a little bit concerned more hasn't happened (only 1 or 2 bodies would make a big difference though) but i've seen so many squads, especially in recent years that i've thought had plenty of cover and sufficient quality and we've struggled really badly.

The more i've been worried down the years, the better we've done. The year we sold Andy Paint Tin..... jesus.... that was going to be a disaster!

I think some on here would be happy if we signed today three guys. One from Man United, one from Chelsea and one from Arsenal. You know because if you come from a top club you are automatically good. If we go into the season with our current squad i'd not be singing from the rooftops, but i'll not be on suicide watch either. I'm sure some kids will sink and some will swim. When they have played a fair few matches together we will have a better idea.

If those we offered contracts to had signed back up yes we'd have more numbers, but not of quality. I'd rather Digby got played than a resigned Dawson for example.

Good post, mate. Agree with it.

We had the biggest squad in our 127 year history last season. Fact. And look how that ended up.

We do need some more players though. That's a fact n all.

Last season was beyond ridiculous. Frankly it was embarrassing and it was all a bit obvious that any feel good factor amongst the players was going to vanish quickly with such a squad size as it grew by the day.

Depending on who goes, i'd like a couple more brought in. Another midfielder and the full backs seem the biggest priorities. what we mustn't do is block off the kids. Thats what we did last year and could easily have been a season where Digby, Rose and RNL kicked on. But a few niggly injuries and never being selected put paid to that.

One thing I am looking forward to is a bunch of younger players who have opportunity. Hopefully most rise and develop but i know not all will make the grade.

There are still plenty of players out there with good pedigrees that have not yet sorted out their futures. We might just be waiting for the right move to trigger the domino effect and then hey presto. I now know why patience is described as a virtue, cos many on here ain't got it.
